I remember last fall a bunch of people doing this and it sounded like so much fun. I didn't get in on time and thought maybe some peeps would like to do this again.
Let me know what you think! I would be willing to organize if there are enough people interested.
Please do not PM me yet with your info as I am just trying to get a feel for who would be willing.
I was thinking a warm weather theme would be appropriate (sorry all Southern Hemisphere peeps) with the change of seasons. Or maybe "fix-a-flat"? If you can think of a better theme, please feel free to mention it!

What exactly is a Secret Cycle Sister? I searched previous posts and didn't find any threads.

You know, the whole secret sister started out as a sock exchange, and then a water bottle exchange and was really fun, but it seemed like it got out of hand. People were thanking their sisters for gobs of stuff, which had to run $50 or more. I liked doing it, but I think there should be limits. Sock exchange and throw in a few treats (cliff bars, Jelly Belly Sport Beans), but not socks, shirts, a Rivendell bag AND a new car.
Anyone else notice this?

Secret Sister is where you get someone assigned to you and then you get them something $10-15 to go with a theme. Theme is just a guideline, price is also a guideline but don't go overboard, it is more about something fun and thoughtful than the price tag!

I've participated in two secret sister exchanges. The first one was great, but on the second one I didn't get anything. I wasn't expecting anything over and above, but it still stings just a little when the person assigned to you bails and doesn't at least offer an apology.
Sorry...guess it still stings a little. :(
Anyway...if you say you're going to participate...DO IT!

Did you contact the person organizing it? Maybe your address got transposed or something...

I contacted the organizer when I hadn't received anything after a few months. She contacted the person who said something about heading out to ship the package, but nothing after that. I guess the address could have gotten transposed, but wouldn't the package have been sent back?
It just feels bad to be left out.

I'm so sorry that happened to you and I completely understand about feeling left out. (((((oxysback)))))

Thanks, Sammy. I probably shouldn't have brought it up, but I wanted to make the point that if you sign up and find out you can't participate, an explaination to the moderator is better than not hearing anything at all. :)

Overall I think most people are great. I did it for about 5 months but it happened to me twice. After the second time I was done....I figured it was less disappointing just getting something for myself, lol.

It's not an isolated incident. We were doing secret sisters every month for awhile. Lots of people had months where they didn't receive anything, and there were a couple of times when I couldn't find out if my package had arrived. (I started using delivery confirmation then). I don't remember who has organized it in the past, but maybe you could have a dialogue with them about it and what is involved.

I'm in, I'm in...........wooohooo! :D
I have joined in several times and have always been so very lucky, there are several items I have received in the past and they still decorate my living room. Yup, I am a real sucker for silly, daft cheapy things.
I promise I will try and not let my Secret Sister down.
