I think I'll keep him! Thanks to TE and their "enabling", and also, I guess, Missouri's Career Ladder, the Merlin is now home with me. All that's left is aicabsolut's Jett saddle. I finally got the stem length and angle right. I replaced the seatpost with a Thomson without any setback. It rides like a dream. Campy 10 speed and I love how it shifts. Not sure why I HAD to have it. Just so my Surly wouldn't get jealous, I did several miles around town on it today also. Took some pics in downtown Belle, MO. I originally thought I would probably sell the Surly because it seemed silly to have two bikes so similar, but no, I'm not letting my Surly go! I love it too much. It will be my trail/rough road touring bike. I'm gonna be pushing two acres of grass again this summer!

Thanks Jobob. Glad to see you back and recovering! The mowing party could be anytime, the grass keeps growing and growing, while I ignore it and ride and ride...
We've had 2 Merlin Cyrene's in the shop recently. I'm jealous.

Hey Claudia,
That's a gorgeous bike -- congratulations!
Last year I found a Merlin Camena on Craigslist that was in my size. The price was right, so resistance was futile!! My Merlin also has the Thomson zero setback seat post. Previous owner had a Terry Gellissima Butterfly saddle with Titanium rails. I was a bit skeptical about how I'd like the saddle (my other 3 bikes have Brooks), but so far, so good.
Yes, I have 3 other bikes, and have no intention of selling any of them. Some weeks I ride all 4 of my bikes, and it makes me really, really happy. :D
Again, congrats on your great craigslist find!

Woot wooo!!! That's one purty bike... me likey! I don't think there's any reason to sell the Surly. There's room enough for both bikes in the stable. :) (see, it's the enabling again).
Enjoy your new ride!!!!!

I can always count on TE, the enablers! Thanks for the nice comments!
Love the bag Trek, the bike does call for a little bit of a color shake up!
