I wrote a poem for a friend this morning and wanted to share it with you too. It’s called “Dance Among the Clouds”. Enjoy!
I’d rather be among the clouds
dancing across the sky
Than sitting in a small grey box
And watching my life go by.
I’d rather hike along a trail
well traveled throughout the years
Than spend a single minute more
Arguing with my peers
I’d rather feel the sunlight’s warmth
Be caressed by ocean’s breeze
Taste the salt air on my tongue
Hear the whisperings of the trees
Instead I’m locked inside a box
Staring at a glowing screen
Breathing poorly circulated air
Making a living, or so it would seem
But my real life is outside these cubicle walls
There’s so much more to see
Some days I sit and daydream
About how it would feel to be free
To dance outside among the clouds
Feel the drops of cool spring rain
Feeling joy just like a child
Be carefree once again
Are we so busy with our daily work
That we forget who we really are
Slow and take the time to look
At the beauty of an evening star
Plant a rose, take a walk
Make time for nature each day
And you will find that after a while
Work stresses go away…
I’d rather be among the clouds
dancing across the sky
Than sitting in a small grey box
And watching my life go by.
I’d rather hike along a trail
well traveled throughout the years
Than spend a single minute more
Arguing with my peers
I’d rather feel the sunlight’s warmth
Be caressed by ocean’s breeze
Taste the salt air on my tongue
Hear the whisperings of the trees
Instead I’m locked inside a box
Staring at a glowing screen
Breathing poorly circulated air
Making a living, or so it would seem
But my real life is outside these cubicle walls
There’s so much more to see
Some days I sit and daydream
About how it would feel to be free
To dance outside among the clouds
Feel the drops of cool spring rain
Feeling joy just like a child
Be carefree once again
Are we so busy with our daily work
That we forget who we really are
Slow and take the time to look
At the beauty of an evening star
Plant a rose, take a walk
Make time for nature each day
And you will find that after a while
Work stresses go away…
