View Full Version : Open Water Swim Clinic... Dallas, TX... I will learn to swim in a lake!
I get to go to 4 sessions, about 1 a month.
I was worried about open water swimming... and I am so happy I found an open water swim clinic! Otherwise, I was just going to hit the lake on the weekends!
As far as swimming goes... I am a strong swimmer... but I have NEVER swam outside of a pool with *perfect* conditions!
Swimming in a nasty Texas lake... should be *interesting*!

ROFL - I always hated swimming in a lake coz I always thought the fishies were gonna come and bite my toes!! :D :D
Sounds like fun tho - enjoy it and good luck!!!
Well, I have been to 3 of my 4 classes. I go to my last class the week before I do a 1 mile swim in a lake (relay team for a 1/2 Ironman distance).
I have to say that taking this lake swimming clinic really prepared me for open water swimming... and helped me get over my fears! I feel very confident in open water now!
So, to anyone else reading this... if you are scared or worried about open water swimming... try to find a clinic in your area! I know mine was $60 for 4 classes, and it was money well spent!

Hi KSH,
That was a great idea to take an open water swimming clinic. I too did that and was much more confident. I actually swam yesterday in open water and it was a little rough with the wind but then I'm not a strong swimmer but still managed to swim the 500m. I've learned that if you can relax and keep a rhythm you'll do fine and still have lots of energy.
Good luck in your relay race. Can't wait to hear all about it. My race is this weekend so I'm praying for calm water!
Good luck!

girls - good luck with your upcoming races. Let us know how you get on we love to hear all the news. :)
Tricat... sounds like you had your head together... to make it through the waves... and to come out of the water ready to hit the bike! Having confidence that you can do it... is important!
I will most definately give an update on the relay team race... since it is ALL WOMEN! We call ourselves, "Go-Go Girls"! HA!
