Thought I'd throw this into the "mix" (har har har) since I see there are threads about breadmakers & yogurt mixers...
I bought one of these last week and it's awesome. I've been making smoothies, green smoothies, ice cream (without the fat & calories - really! it is like a soft freeze right from the mixer!) and it's great. I like it because you grind up everything, unlike a juicer where you lose the pulp (and fiber). I add protein powder for a quick smoothie before the gym. Clean up is easy - just a few drops of dish soap, hot water & turn it on high.
The book says you can make soup. I've used it to blend ricotta/spinach/mozarella for lasagne roll-ups & it turns it into a nice light whip. Somebody told me they use it for their dog's raw food and it pulverizes chicken bones (good calcium but bad for doggie tummies).
(I get no financial reward from the Vitamix company...:D)
