Whenever I ride a little too often or a little too much (esp. climbing), my IT band really hurts. I'm a little scared because I just signed up for the Livestrong Century in Aug. and need to be able to both go long and climb a lot.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for treatment, prevention, anything? Is it worth going to a PT? My FDH is a chiropractor and gave me a foam roller and some stretches. I cut back on riding, just to feel it start to flare up again. Any thoughts?

I think it would definitely be worth seeing a PT. And if you haven't already, maybe also see an expert on bike fit (make sure they look at how your cleats are positioned too) There is a "one stop" physical therapist here in my area who specializes in bike fitting & bike-related PT, so if you can find someone like that it may be very helpful.

There are some older posts by Rocknroll girl about her IT band blues last year & some good suggestions by Wahine round here too. Have a poke around in this here health section or the tri area & you may find your pot o gold :)

If you have to stop riding for a while until it gets better, do so.

What about a few private pilates sessions at a studio? If you were in Perth, i''d recommend the one I go to :)
