I mentioned a while back I was diagnosed with tennis elbow. Anyway, my internist wanted to send me to a physical therapist. Fine, except I belong to an HMO - I have a PCP who must authorize the PT. I've never seen the PCP, by the way. So I call, get an appointment and see her. She confirms the diagnosis, says to check with my chiropractor/massage therapist; if she has an ultrasound I can go to her. Chiro/MT doesn't, so I call PCP back for an authorization.....I've heard nothing since then.

I'm depressed and whiney, I wanna ride my bike and I can't - I'm not able to grip the handlebars.

So, do I complain to the HMO, go back to my regular internest and see whoever he sends me to -- and probably pay for everything out of pocket - no ins reimbursment, continue to whine. Eat a box of Oreos and a bag of Circus Animal Cookies, put on the ten pounds I've lost......ramble, ramble, mumble, growl........

I think I feel a little better.

MmmmmmmmmmAnimal Crackers :p yummmy
eat your cookies and you won't be able to whine, your mouth will be full, and nobody will understand you if you do whine ....that is what I would do. :D
Hint: Do other things like walk, that should not bother your elbow. You won't gain if you stay busy with things you can do. Leg exercises, sit on exercise bikes at gym without your hands and spin...while you eat your cookies ;)

Cookies??? Cookiemonster love cookies! Someone say cookies?!

How long ago did you call the PCP? Is it time to call once more, give them to the end of the business day and then call provider relations at the HMO if not return call? If you called on a Monday they could have been swamped and since you weren't at death's door, you got relegated to the end of the line. :(

Definitely call them again, and again, until you get what you need. But you should also keep active, walk, head to the gym (work on those legs so they'll be ready to pick up riding again), the eliptical machine is great, just keep active and it will help to keep you psyched so that when you are able to start biking again, you'll still be in good shape and ready to go! It's always easier to stay home and eat those cookies, but Nothing beats the incredible high after a great workout!!!

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....

it must be time to go shopping. I hate THAT week of the month!

Just joining in on the pity party....

I hate HMO's too - the extra money paid for the PPO plan is always well worth it. The HMO is great if you never need it, but if you need it you're in trouble!

It's a miracle - someone finally called me back! Probably had something to do with the "I've left messages before, no one has called me back. I expect to hear from you by the end of the business day" message I left. :D

Anyway, referral is ready and faxed to the PT clinic. I call tomorrow for my appointment.

Gotta get riding again so I can steal Waldo from jobob...........
