I normally don't post about a commute, but the wind felt brutal, it took forever, so when I got to work I checked the weather and it said I was riding into a 29mph headwind! At least it looks like the ride home will be fun if the wind doesn't change!!

My ride was actually yesterday, but I was too lazy to post it. I did a 33 mile club ride that started about 4.5 miles from my house. It was 37 when I left, and I had to convince myself to leave. I rode to the start point, going about 12 mph down the hill, because I didn't want to get chilled. I was fine once I got going, but it remained cloudy and raw all day; it was 48 when I got home.
We did all of the familiar routes through Lincoln, Weston, Wayland, Sudbury, Acton, and back to Concord. It was a hilly route; not big climbs, but lots of them. I usually stay right behind the leader on these rides, but they were very speedy for some reason. I was at the back of the front group, though. I should clarify and say the front group of "old" people. This is a group where I often catch people on the climbs, which seems weird. I knew I wasn't going to join them for lunch, since I had work to do and the ride was going right past my street and Strawberry Hill Rd. About 3-4 miles before the point where I went home, I wasn't sure exactly where the group was going (they use a human arrowing system, not cue sheets), so I peeled off and cut through a school parking lot and a path, that I used on my old commute. The leaders were coming down the road right when I was exiting the path, so I ended up being an arrow at a very busy intersection.
It was good, but I was tired at the end.

Beautiful day today (winter is FINALLY over!!)....60F and sunny but nice and cool feeling. I did a favorite 20 mile ride I hadn't done for at least a year I think. What a pleasure to be back riding again after that very 'difficult' winter.

I also felt very free today, because yesterday I was in court in the same room as an accused murderer and I was in the jury pool of about 50 people, for the second day. I was lucky to have not been picked as one of the 12 jurors for this case, because A) it was a very unsavory and gruesome murder of his pregnant wife and there had been an overturned conviction on it already 12 years ago(!) making things rather complicated and B) it would have meant my attending court all day for an estimated 3 weeks or more and getting paid a 'whopping' $40/per day for it....yikes, talk about going broke while losing precious work time! They don't even pay gas or lunch! :( So, even though I would have been willing to serve, and had answered all their questions honestly, I didn't get picked this time, I won't get summoned again for 6 years now, and I'm sure GLAD!

Also ridiculously windy here in Austin, Tx. Gusts up to 45mph. The ride home is going to be awesome with the wind at my back!

Rode 28 miles today with my riding buddy. We did a few intervals in the beginning, going as fast as we could between signals and recovering to the next. Then we rode the rest of the ride, with some moderate climbing, as usual and ended up with a great time. (We're stat junkies! :D)

It was a good ride, which is nice, cause my last ride SUCKED! Very difficult 50 miles in the wind. Yay for the GOOD rides! :D

I want to ride, but it's too cold and windy (low 40's with wind gusting to 50mph).:(

I'll just live vicariously through you ladies. :)

My commute was in rain, no wind. It was supposed to clear by 9am. At 5pm, ride home was still in rain! It was serene since I took the bike path and the fog was thick and heavy through the swampy woods. I felt at one with the world and my bike.

Terrible Day - Great Ride.

By far, my best ride of '09. A quick 17 miler - Pulled into the driveway just as the heaven's opened...doesn't get any better than that!:D

At 28 mph, I come around a turn where they filmed part of a race scene from "Breaking Away" thinking "The Italians are coming - The Italians are Coming!"

Played hooky and did the Bike Journal ride up Mt Diablo. Deviated off course with a couple of the guys and we actually went up the North to the junction and then down the south side, where we met up with the group and rode back up - this time all the way to the summit. Well, I did. Those guys I started with (Twain and GW_12) kept going back and forth up the hill like sheepdogs with the group. I bet they did the equivalent of 3 ascents.

Had fun riding with Veronica and aka_kim. (Kim is a total complete utter irrevocable unredeemable sandbagger, by the way. :p ). Had a recovery feast of V's cookies - yum! :D

Glad you liked the cookies. I made them just for you this morning. :D Well and for everyone else.

It was another lovely day out on the mountain. I didn't think I had enough time to get to the summit and make it to my meeting, so I ditched the group at the Junction. I was really glad I put on my coat for the descent. It was a bit nippy. The poppies are out in full force. I didn't stop for pictures unfortunately.

I got home with plenty of time to eat lunch and shower. I think if I had gone on to the top I'd have been stressed out, trying to make it back in time.

I rode the Great Dismal Swamp Canal Trail with 3 other friends. Great ride until the helicopter flew over and dropped a blanket of industrial strength mosquito repellent. So gross!

Anyway, it's a flat and fast 8 mile trail, so 8 out and back for a total of 16 miles.

I had scheduled to lead a relatively short (15 mi) club ride after work - except no one showed up! :( I guess they were all scared away by the impending weather. So I toodled around by myself for a while and then went home, because honestly, I wanted to watch the 3 hrs of the last ER episode anyway!
