I have my first HIM this sunday in New Orleans. I signed up for it last July!
I just can't believe that I am here already! I have trained plenty hard, but I can't help but be worried. I have never done this distance, so I don't know how I m going to feel. I don't know what level of tired I am going to end up being. I want to push myslef, but I want to finish also and not bonk or get sick :)
Clearly I don'thave anything to say except that I am really feeling those "pre-race jitters!"
This time next week, I'll be done and on my way back from NOLA...hard to believe!
I am already starting to work extra on my hydration (plus electrolytes!).....
I feel a little crazy in my head.....I know I'll be fine--what if I don't finish.....back and forth!

I did my first HIM last August. In my head I just separated it into three separate events. I knew I could swim a mile - easy, peasy. I knew I could bike 56 miles - easy, peasy. I knew I would suck at the run and I would just have to get through it. And that's pretty much the way it went down. :D
You have trained, you can do this.

I think it's pretty normal to have pre-event jitters. The best of luck on your HIM. :)

Wow time has passed fast. I will definitely be thinking of and cheering for you from ND come race day.
Don't let any negativity take root. If you think the swim, bike or run is going to suck, it will. It's one thing to say in your head "this is tough." and another "I don't think I can do this.". You can do this Kacie!! You have trained well.
I think Veronica had it right to split the race up into sections and focus on one section at a time. Just like you did at the marathon. Only difference being that you have to partially fuel for what comes after the bike while focusing on the bike. :p
Now, I expect you to tell me all this when I feel crazy in the head before my HIM in June. Deal?
Best of luck!!! :D

Thank you thank you thank you!
I am finding it incredibly hard to focus at work (next week is spring break, I think that is just compounding my focus issues :p)
The weather looks pretty warm! It is going to get into the low 80s  That seems pretty hot for what it has been lately. I upped it to two bottles of gatorade a day this week (not to mention a little extra salt on food and bannanas and almonds). Trying to get the electrolytes upped a little more than usual.
I got a massage from my massage "terrorist." Everything seems like it is hurting on and off this week. It is as if my body does not really approve of this endevor :) Every time I go see her, I can't remember why I see her because it hurts SO much when I see her!! AH (of course it hurts because I don't see her so often).
I also swam in the pool in my wetsuit. I washed it off really well afterwards, but it felt so strange!!!
AHHHHH...I start to get nervous when I think about it!
Thanks SOOO much for all of the good words!

Thanks a million times again for the luck!
I am carbing it up per my coach today :-) It feels a little unbalanced, but I know my legs will use it up!
I have my plans and my goal times. My injured DH is at home (not quite back to work yet) doing laundry getting ready! I have two more friends on their way to town to come to cheer for me! I am leaving work in 2 hours. HIM in 2 days!!!!!
It is supposed to get up to 83 on sunday in new orleans:eek: Even as a southerner, that feels hot for april! Salt tabs are coming with me!
On top of everything, it is the day before spring break, so my students are SO ready to get out of school (as am I!).
It feels crazy that it is right here already! AH!

Wow- that WAS fast! I remember when you were first talking about it.
Have a GREAT time during your race. If you're not out to win your AG, just have fun and enjoy the day. It's your parade, so celebrate all your hard work and savor the day (and if you're out to win, then just hammer hard). :)
