Hello everyone!
I've been attempting to go out jogging (slowly, slowly) and although I'm not jogging huge distances I do feel that drinking water would be beneficial. Especially when my throat gets all dry and yucky.
I've been reading some posts on here and I was wondering about these fuel belts. What do they look like? Are they just a little strap that goes around your waist with a waterbottle holder? I've seen something similar in Aus, but only once and I was wondering how comfortable they are...
cheers!
Your description is about right, except that they are usually more than "a little strap" since they have to be holding on to your waist as you run. It would be quite unpleasant, not to say chafing, to have one's fuel belt moving up and down with every step.
You can see lots here:

There are a few different brands, Fuel Belt and Nathan being the main ones I see out there. I have a Nathan Speed 2 which I like, but I only wear it for running more than an hour. On shorter runs, I don't need to drink. But keep in mind that I a heavy drinker (of water!) the rest of the day and that I live in a cool climate. I don't find it terribly uncomfortable, but I'd rather run without the added bulk/weight.

Search in this subforum on "hydration" and you will find a few threads where people have posted reviews and linked to sites for other products.

If I'm planning to be out more than 45 minutes, I wear a hydration belt. Even if I end up not needing it, I like knowing I have it. Besides, it gives me a convenient place to stash my ID, my MPs player, my cell phone & some cash.
If you get one that fits you well, and is well balanced in the small of your back, you'll hardly notice it's there. If you get one that *doesn't* fit your shape well, it will probably drive you nuts.

I run anything over 30 minutes with an Amphipod belt. The belt is 2 inches wide and elastic. It closes with Velcro. So it's infinitely adjustable. So far I've been very happy with it.

Fabulous ladies...this was exactly what I was looking for. I will have to pop into a running shop methinks to find a subengine sized belt!
I use the Nathan handheld water bottle. I have used this up to 26.2 miles and I like using it. I won't use a belt around my waist as I can see where it would get VERY ANNOYING to have the water sloshing around, etc. Not to mention, it gets in the way of where I swing my arms.

I never have this problem. I wear a belt with one center back waterbottle (21 oz) and a pocket on either side of it. The trick for me is to wear the belt snugly and not have it in contact with bare skin. Then it stays put and doesn't move around.
Wore mine on a 10 mile run this morning. Except when accessing it, I never seem to notice it.

I have the Nathan 2 bottle pack. It never moves around and is very snug against my waist. I drink more than anyone I know. Today I barely ran over 2 miles and had one of the 10 oz. bottles. Last week when I did about 5 miles I was out of water.
If it gets over 60 degrees, I need water, no matter how far I am going.
