I have been riding and swimming more than walking and did a 1/2 marathon (mostly walking) this morning. At about mile 10 I started having terrible
pain (which I can only describe as muscular) in what I guess is the labia majora region. Okay, the outside of all things south! I have experienced it a time or two when walking recently but not to the extent at the 10 mile point. I am sure it is muscular - but can't figure out what is going on. VERY uncomfortable. Hate to be so graphic, but would like to hear I am not the only one! Being 55 is great for a number of reasons, but the body is definitely changing!

Okay, first, major kudos for running half-marathons in your 50s. You're my hero.

As for the pain you experienced, I wonder if there might have been as simple as some kind of blood flow restriction. Were your shorts or underwear too tight? If not, you might have some sort of vein issue. You should definitely go see your doctor.

I feel like going to run around the block now.

Thanks for the reply. I was pondering the blood flow issue, too. Nothing too tight, so since I can't figure it out, I will go to the medicine man. Oh, these 50's are something else, but the best if you embrace them! BTW, I "wun" - a little running and a lot of walking with a focus on actual racewalking technique. Kept a good pace average (for me) of under 15 minute miles for 13.1 miles. Those last 2 were killers, though. Thought we'd never see the end and then had to walk a mile back to the train station!

Go run around the block and sign up for a 1/2!
