DH and I went shopping yesterday for new MTN bikes for both of us. My current MTN bike I bought in 1994 and DH bought his in 1991 so I think it is time. We tried 3 different bikes each..and really like the Yeti. DH likes the Yeti ASR and I like the YET 575. Actually I liked both:p
The Yeti 575 felt more comfortable and has a slacker drive to it and I felt like I was sitting "in" it. The ASR I felt like I was sitting on top of it and could tell it was a little more twitchy. Also the ASR is about 2.5 pounds lighter. Decisions decsions. I am definately not a strong climber so I am not sure if a light bike would help. DH and I thought next year we could put lighter wheels on which would drop some weight. The 575 is pretty comfy and may be bettter for my back. Any thoughts?? From my research the 575 is good for the downhills, as in it is more foregiving. The ASR is a good cross-country bike and a good climbing bike.
DH put the ASR on hold for him and I put the 575 on hold for me. They don't have a ASR avaialble for me at this time should I change my mind.
Pretty exicted about this:D

Solo--where are the pictures?? :p
As for dropping weight on the bike: I put Mavic Crossmax SLR rims on mine paired with Kenda tubeless tires and new cranks and it felt like a whole new bike. Apparently reducing rotational weight is more effective than stationary weight.

Well, we did it....Pictures will be later this week. I went with the ASR. I tried both the ASR ( in a Medium since they did not have a small) and the small 575. I found the steering on the ARS much more responsive and climbed short little inclines better. The 575 had a tendency to want to pop the front wheel up. Also there is a lot more standing clearence on the ASR then the 575. Can't wait now to get it home and take her for a rid, although mayber its a he. I will have to take a closer look. I never spend money on myself at all so this is a huge deal for me. It makes having to go into work more tolerable:)

Wonderful! The ASR-Sl was the first bike ever that I had the "the sky opened up, angels singing" effect. Totally love at first crank! It was so light and responsive, with all cranking power turned into forward power. Every other bike was compared to that one! I think you are going to love it, and it is going to be a monster climber. Unfortunately, for me the price was way out of the budget, so I had to settle... but I still sometimes dream! Did you get the black on black? Sexy!

You will have to wait and see what color it is. As for price..yes it was more then I had planned, but who wants to retire anyways:p

Got the phone call today that my bike was ready to be picked up. She is such a pretty bike. Sorry to brag. I rode her home from the LBS. She handles great and all the bumps in the road that I normally could feel on my cross bike I didn't even feel at all. Sorry the picture isn't the greatest but her she is.
