I
did
6
dead-hang
pullups
in
a
row
TODAY!

:D

(sorry...just have to get it out...)

Hubby just kind of went "Hmph. Good job." My reply was something like, "What? That's all I get? I've been shooting for 5 in a row for a while now and I bang out 6 whilst battling a nasty recurring case of tennis elbow and all I get is that? You should say something like 'way to go! great job honey!'."

He changed his response. Good choice. :p

OK, next goal is 10 in a row by the end of summer. Dead-hangers, not kipping pullups and not chin ups.

I can't do them anymore. I think that's how I hurt my shoulder :(

Just thinking about pull ups reminds me of the Presidential Physical fitness test we used to have to do in elementary school. I dreaded that. I was lucky if I could just hang there.

I hurt my shoulder by neglecting my pull-ups while I was trying to do too many push-ups.

I need to get back to doing BOTH. I've lost so much upper body strength. :(

Push ups, hand stands, pull ups. There's nothing you can't do!

WOW!!! I am super-impressed!

I've just started trying pull-ups. I can't yet do even one unassisted. Right now, I am using a chair (rest one foot on top/back of chair).

You're my inspiration! :D

Thanks to all of you for your thoughtful reactions. I did it again this morning but was only able to eke out 2 on the next two sets. I'm blaming it on not enough calories. ;)

MicheleM, did you watch that vid I posted in your p90x thread? Get one of those resistance bands. They are so nice to use for assistance. You get the full motion without having to push off of something. I can't recommend it enough. Do pullups with one of those for a few weeks and you'll be doing them unassisted before you know it.

MP, I NEVER got one of those PPF patches. It took me years to get over that. I also was one of the last to be picked for kickball. Yeah, that still haunts me, too.

lph, I used to dabble in both rock and ice climbing, but my partners moved on and, well, I just quit doing it. I loved ice climbing; definitely sticks in my head as one of the toughest things I've ever done. I might get back into it someday...

aka_kim, I'm definitely math challenged and I can't make a decent souffle. I can't whistle, either. So there. :p
