I picked up my Lynskey today from wheelgirl in Berkeley, and I'm just thrilled to bits with it!

I can't get over how light it is, even though it has some moderately heavy components on it (a ti-railed Brooks saddle, a XTR derailleur and an IRD 11-32 cassette) - it weighs in at only 18.5 pounds. Considering my Riv weighs over 23 pounds that's an enormous difference, from my perspective at least!

I opted to leave the frame unpainted with a brushed finish. Instead of decals, the logos are etched into the titanium frame. I love how they look, very subtle. I'm very glad I went with the silver Ultegra components rather than the gray Ultegra SL, although the folks at wheelgirl told me they had a bit of a hard time getting the silver ones which are being phased out (as noted in the recent Ultegra vs Ultegra SL thread)

Call me a neanderthal, but I likes my bar end shifters.

The wheels were handbuilt at wheelgirl, Velocity Aerohead rims (OC rear) with Sapim spokes & White Industries hubs.

OMG it rides wonderful. Pics to follow.

We're thinking we'll do Diablo Sunday. You can find out much faster you climb. :D

Very nice.

I was thinking of Sierra Road on Sunday * :)

After some of the stupid-steep climbs we've been doing for DR training, Sierra Rd seems a lot less daunting now. (And that was even before I knew the Lynskey was ready ...)

One of the high poobahs at work is an avid cyclist and has an amazing collection of bikes. (Some high poobahs have fancy cars, this one has fancy bikes ...)

His jaw just about hit the floor when I told him I was going to have bar end shifters on my new bike. And then his eyes bugged out when I told him I was getting a triple crank and a mtb derailleur & cassette. Kind of like this -->

I kind of get the impression he thinks I'm hopeless. :D :D

Hmmph. Well his eyes can bug out all he wants....It all makes perfect sense to ME! :D Your bike should be up to whatever job you want it to do.
Great bike.

Oh, not to worry, we rib each other all the time about bike stuff. :) I got to chide him just the other day for not knowing that the Criterium International was three stages in two days - I told him a racing junkie like himself should simply know these things.

(btw, here's the Steelman (http://www.steelmancycles.com/Elliot%27s%20bike.html) he took delivery on a few months ago. His most recent acquisition was a Seven fixie this past week. Oy.)

Now that's timing.

I was just telling my Wonderful Partner that I'd love my next bike to be stainless steel with a brushed finish. Like my favourite pen. This is the pen:

Wouldn't your bike go well with this?

*sigh*

I'm looking forward to my midlife crisis!!

Very nice! I like the etching and the finish. You're right, it's so subtle. I really don't care for huge bike logos. After all, I don't have a car with DODGE written down the side in big block letters.

Sweet!!!!!!!!!!

Lynskey is my numero uno "dream" bike. They are so sexy in person. Where is the dang drooling smilie?!:D I would spec it out possibly like yours on gearing. You're the engine who cares what someone else thinks, right? Can't wait to hear your first ride report.

After all, I don't have a car with DODGE written down the side in big block letters. Although there sure are enough logos on the stem, fork and headset! I was supposed to get a black sotto voce headset (with very faint logos) but they built it up with the regular Chris King headset instead. It's really no biggie - at least all the logos are color coordinated black & white.

Very beautiful. There's something about the bar end shifters that make bars look so clean and sleek. You look so happy in the pictures.

It says, "made in Tennessee...built to go ????" Can't quite make it out.

Too bad he blew all his money on Campy and had to then skimp on the gears on that lovely Steelman. :D ;)

A seven fixie? What's the world coming to?

Yeah, I had my LUNA logo done in a slightly lighter shade than my frame...it's cool...ghostlike. :p Margo also picked a stem for me with minimal logoism in mind. It took me forever to get the ugly logos off my Velocity Aerohead rims...but I did it.

My thoughts exactly.
I really don't care for huge bike logos.
I'm in agreement there too. In fact that's an understatement.

Nice stealth climber there, Jobob ;)

Woweeeee! Your bike is a beauty, jobob. I wish you many happy miles with it.

BTW, you wouldn't happen to have a sister who's a nurse in the Seattle area, would you? You have a strong resemblance to a woman with whom I took a yoga class. I swear she has your identical smile.
