:D
Leaving this AM to my first triathlon (or perhaps only aquabike) of 2009. Olympic distance in a high mountain lake (Calima) in the south of Colombia. My wetsuit doesn't really fit me anymore so I can't move my arms too well, the swim will be slow. I haven't run for 8 weeks because of a pulled calf muscle, but it doesn't really hurt, so am hoping for a miracle in the transition from bike to run.:) If it starts to hurt I have asked some of my companions to take my number away from me and force me to quit the run. I am going to work on transitions!

Sounds great!!! Sometimes the adrenaline of race day is a wonderful drug. Hopefully you'll get to the run and feel fantastic. Have a great time (and pictures are required as it sounds like a beautiful location).;)

How did it go? I'm hoping GREAT. You are my new inspiration -- I'm also nursing a calf pull and it's not going great. I hope you had a great day and a pain free run!

It was a great triathlon, an open water lake swim, with wind and cold, but clearly visible buoys. The transition water bike was up about 300 stairs, that hurt my calf, so I started the bike with calf pain, but rode hard, it was a hilly course, so I was constantly changing gears and it was hard to get into a groove, but it was soooo beautiful and no cars, then at the bike run transition, I decided that my calf ALREADY was bothering me in the bike, so I might as well run, and well, it didn't go so bad. I ran slow and had started in the last wave, so all alone on a one way 10k road, with no traffic, beautiful scenery, just felt like I was out for a slightly fast walk. The last bit was all up hill so the final 2k, well I did wonder if it wasn't ok to run. But I just kept at it. I got a trophy and a gift certificate for winning my category (all two of us). It was a hard tri, but fun fun fun. Today my calf hurts, BUT NOT MORE THAN before, which is no lesson in anything. Still not sure what to do. Thanks for your support!

Congrats on your race!!! Way to push through the pain AND place first in your group!!!! (no need to mention there were only two);)
Sorry your calf is still hurting... wish that would go away for you.

Congratulations on a good race and finish. It sounds like it went quite well considering your calf wasn't 100%. Well done!!!:D:D

Awesome job & proof of mental toughness!!! :D Glad things were able to stay positive despite that calf pain.
