He has finally arrived! I met "The P2" yesterday in St. Louis and it was love at first sight. I immediately invited him to come home and live with me.

Woot woo.. congratulations!!!!! He sure is beautiful...:D It's the sweetest ride- you'll love every minute with him (I would've said "on" him, but that's just a little vulgar- even tho I said it anyway).
Be careful on the first couple rides, as it rides so quick and nimble you'll feel like you're riding... well, I don't know, but man that ride is sweeeet.

To start, by censoring the first post...the double entendre was just over the top;)
I'm thinking of letting the air of "his" tires

Don't let Silver fool you- it's not a real bike, it's just a toy model!- look at the size of the wall clock behind it in the photo...that toy bike must be actually only 9" tall! ;)
She's just trying to pull a fast one on us all to make us jealous of her 'new bike'.

I quoted you to see it again. Beautiful bike! I can't wait to get a ride report - I would like a TT bike sometime. The blue and silver looks great! Wheels look hot on it as well... (can I say that if it's a he?)

That made me laugh! I hadn't even noticed the gigantically humongoid clock in the background (yes, that's a made up word I just created for this post). Now when I look at the bike, all I can think of is a toy...
I have that bike in a size 48cm. In real life it really does look like a toy bike compared to my DH's 56cm bike.

Congrats on your new bike! I love the color scheme. Just looking at it it just "feels" light as a feather. I hope you fly fast on your rides. Enjoy.

It's a slim line bottle. It's not as wide as a regular bottle and shaped funny so you can grab onto it while riding. It's super slim to be more aerodynamic.

Although the thought of it being pregnant with little baby bottles made me laugh. Funny!

Hi all! I've been short on time, but thanks for the thoughts on my new bike.
A few answers:
It's a He, all my bikes are. My bikes are all named by model and "The," "The 1000," "The Madone," and this one will be "The P2"
It's a 56cm 2009 Cervelo P2 Ultegra SL.
So far all is stock:
Fork - 3T Funda Pro
Seatpost - Cervélo aero carbon
Shift Levers - Shimano DuraAce Bar-ends
Front Derailleur - Shimano Ultegra SL
Rear Derailleur - Shimano Ultegra SL
Cassette - Shimano Ultegra 12-25
Chain - Shimano Ultegra
Brake Calipers - Cervélo Mach 2
Brake Levers - Vision Aero Levers
Crankset - Gossamer MegaExo Compact
Bottom Bracket - FSA Gossamer MegaExo
Headset - Cane Creek
Stem - Visiontech Sizemore
Basebars - Visiontech
Aerobars - Visiontech
Saddle - Selle San Marco Island Tri
I have a Dura Ace 27-11 casstte on order. My American Classic 420 wheels on it. Ultegra SL pedals. Cateye Strada wireless. Profile Design Aero bottle on the downtube and profile design aero 2 bottle holder on the saddle.
I dont' think this saddle will make the cut though. I'll give it a couple miles before making the decision.
Friday Afternoon I drove the 3 hours to St. Louis to pick it up. I was there 3 hours getting fitted on it. Then I drove the 4 hours to Bloomington. Spent Sat there, went to Indy for a dinner and then back to Boomington for the night and now back in Newburgh (2 hours). Been a whirlwind.
And I haven't ridden it yet. One part in the headset had to be glued and set for 24 hours prior to being tightened down. I can't wait!!!!
more info soon.

I have a Dura Ace 27-11 casstte on order.
So it IS a compact!
I was wondering if it was.....
I didn't realize DA had a 11-27 cassette. That's cool. I assume it's a 10 speed?
I'd love that range for my ID8, which also has a compact, and I'm running a 12-25 currently.

the 11-27 DA is new I think. yes, 10 speed.
Yes a compact. I'm a little disappointed. Clearly, I was too focused on the final product to absorb all the details. I'm fairly certain that I'm going to switch out the compact for a standard. I was riding in 50/12 today and felt like I could crank more.

50-11 is lower the 53-12. An 50x34 with a 11x23 is about the same is a 53x39 with a 12x25. You can check it out on Sheldon Brown's web site.

Right, but I was expecting and wanted 53-11. Right now I have 50-12. I've already ordered the 11X27, but need to get the 53X39.

I see many many.. many fast miles on this 'un! Happy journeys, Silver!!
P.S. I didn't mean to copy the sentiment "love at first sight" about my new ride too... just coincidently we had the same experience! hee...

Nice! Whoever did you fit is spot on! That bike fits you like a glove. Looks like my husband's P2C is going to California. Sad but he can't ride it. Good luck with that bad boy.

I think her point is that there is a bigger difference in gear ratios between a 50/12 vs a 50/11 (8.4%) than between a 50/11 vs a 53/11 (5.6%). SO, in other words I think you will be much happier when they install your 11/27 casette. With that being said, I do think it is unusual to build a time trial bike with a compact crank, so I hope they'll swap it out for free.
I don't time trial so I have no idea how high you need this kind of bike geared, but perhaps you should go even larger than 53. I have seen some TT bikes with even bigger front rings, say 55.
Here are some numbers to think about:
53/11 126.6
50/11 119.5
50/12 109.5
53/12 116.1
55/11 131.4
55/12 120.5
Let us know what you end up with. Its common to need to tweak a new bike a little. Cervelos seem to just wanna go fast!
