The smallest steed is a welcomed addition...and boy is she fiesty!!! I have wanted to post this for a few days now but can't figure out to save my life how to post a picture of this precious pup! If anyone can help me out I will show her off :D
Meanwhile I will shamefully tell you about her virgin voyage...
It has been perfect weather here in south Florida for weeks (and when I say perfect...I mean upper 70's/lower 80's and relatively no humidity) UNTIL the baby comes home...nothing but thunderstorms  aint that the way it goes.
Brought her home on a friday night...attached her harness (cylometer) and warmed her up for the next morning's ride (rode around the kitchen & living room in my pj's :p ) We awoke early saturday to a fairly descent sky (gray but not threatening)
Off we went....
What a bitter-sweet experience!!! I was doing great until I tried to turn while breaking on WET pavement and down I went...small scratch on the stem and derailler and huge bruise on the a$$...not to mention what confidence I built up in the first 8 miles. Chris acted as if nothing happened (trying to get me not to notice I just went down in front of many, many people waiting at an intersection :o ) and off we went to try and meet up with a group...the whole time I was hoping we missed them (happy to say we did!) We did see a few pacelines (they are everywhere on Sat & Sun mornings) but never jumped in...I was just not ready! I discovered I am not too fond of riding in the rain as of yet (I love it on a mtbike...but I am far more comfortable on a mtb)...I did get 45 miles in on my first ride and am feeling good! Sunday we tried to venture out again but got met with the rain gods once again and I was trying to keep a brave face but when the drops started going in my eyes I was done.
We have a crit track around the corner from us, the park also has a velodrome...we are going there tonight (shoo-rain god-shooo) for some practice turning...my weakness. He would have me in a pretty fast group immediately if he had his
way...but I need some time to get used to those skinny wheels and narrow handle-bar!
Needless to say...my first experience wasn't the most pleasurable, but the cycling bug is not squished at all!!! I spent the first few months of mtbiking with thighs the color of Tammy Fayes eyes...the color has just shifted north a bit :p Besides I have got to train like crazy...we are off to PA to do a century and a metric century in August
