Oh my goodness what a loooong weekend! I did my first trail work party on Saturday and I had so much fun! Mind you, getting up early to work, what a drag, but I was up and running half an hour before the alarm clock that day.

I got out to the site about 9:30 and there were a ton of people, almost 40 all day. I spent most of the day as a rock chuck and then I got a pair of loppers and went nuts on the manzanita. I avoided any dirt moving tools because Paul, who was heading things up, bless his heart, was a little too enthusiastic and I was scared to mess up. :p

The trail is to reroute one of the connector trails because some big fancy subdivision is going in. Blech! However they did let us keep our connector trail in the form of a 4 foot wide "stroller path" for their residents. The trail had been blazed with a mini excavator so we were creating drainage, moving rocks and brush.

Anyway, the moral of the story is that by doing a good deed of trail work I not only got great beer and BBQ, but I met the kyootest boy ever! *swoon* We went riding yesterday, in the snow and the ick. Yeah, it started snowing as we pulled into the trail head. GRRR! Oh well, I got to ride with an adorable boy, and really, really think we hit it off. Either that or he was just putting up with me. Whatever, I'm freegin twitterpated!!!! :D

I find trail work days to be really rewarding. You end up with something tangible, a trail, working with people - community, and just a warm fuzzy feeling. No matter how big or small you are, there's always something that needs doing.

I have butterflies, I go before the city parks board on thursday to give a powerpoint presentation to the powers that be about our bike club's adopt a park partnership.
