Anyone else out there have a Castelli radiation jacket?
I ordered one for myself (the Alamos) and one for my husband (the Quantum). You definitely need to order up 1 or 2 sizes. (It is the slim Euro size). I'm usually a small in regular clothing. In cycling jerseys, I often prefer a medium depending on the brand. So with the radiation jacket, I ordered a medium. I just sent it back and reordered a large! Yes, I could get it on and zip it up, but the cuffs are extremely narrow, and the shoulder/sleeves are a little too snug when reaching forward with the arms. My husband always gets size large in cycling apparel, but I am returning his large for an XXL!
Other than the sizing issue, the jacket is fantastic and very nice looking. It does keep you warm (for anyone unfamiliar with it, it has a detachable liner like a space blanket to retain 80% of your body heat). I wish all (street) jackets came with a liner like this.
My only complaint: the womens version (the Alamos) does not have a zipper garage at the collar for chin and neck comfort. The mens versions (Quantum and Insolito) do have the zipper garage. I can't believe Castelli neglected that feature!
So... if anyone has any suggestions on how to rig up a zip garage, do tell! Maybe one of those "Buffs" I heard about?
Thanks ;)
