Yesterday my DH went on a ride with some of his friends. Can you tell from the photo which one had a front fender and which one didn't?

hmmmm - I've only got a short front fender and I've never been that muddy..... me thinks he was riding behind someone with no rear fender (or at least no buddy flap.. not much of a buddy)

I love my fenders. They are the accessory I use the most on my LHT. :D And I have awesome mud flaps too! bikerHen

nope, he most certainly went through muddy sandy crud and threw it up with his own front tire. Eden, your little front fender is better than NO fender.

I wasn't there myself but I have excellent witnesses.

good pic, Mimi...I once rode down Tumwater canyon into Leavenworth during a sloppy downpour; despite fenders, I had a full mud mask in the pic that was taken!

That's a great photo, Mimi!

I can attest to the joy of fenders. Yesterday I mapped out a 20 mile loop for DH and I on some backroads near our house. I didn't know all the roads, so I was just picking them based on distance on google maps.

Big mistake.

1/2 the ride ended up being dirt/gravel roads that were VERY muddy. And half those dirt roads were UPHILL. Yes, stupid me - we ended up doing a lovely 4 mile, 7% climb in MUD. Ugh. We were so not prepared for it!

I was thanking lady luck that I'd taken my commuter bike with the bigger tires and fenders...and that my H had good fenders on his bike...or we'd both have been a mess. I had to keep banging my fenders to keep the mud from building up and rubbing, but my bike stayed quite clean. And while we were totally wiped out by the time we got home, we were at least reasonably mud free!

Slow going...but I am much better than last month - or the month before...etc., so I'm going to keep focusing on moving forward!

Am heading off to acupuncturist soon; that seems to be helping with some lingering pain, edema issues. Still have some post-concussive balance issues and tinnitis - although milder, but still damn annoying!
Hoping to ride again before too much of this year slips away...working on the patience-factor is a a continual effort!
