Momentum Magazine is seeking Regional Managing Editors for the following cities:

Vancouver
Toronto
Chicago
Seattle
San Francisco

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: Third year student in print journalism, first year masters program or equivalent experience.
• The successful candidate is also deadline-driven, full of story ideas, and is an independent worker that is willing to take initiative.
• Must understand the essence of being a cyclist who rides their bike everyday.
• Familiarity with the local cycling issues, events and culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Recruit and manage writers and photographers.
• Research local stories about people promoting or celebrating cycling or simply living their life self-propelled.
• Fact checking, proofreading, making phone calls.
• Plan, assign, and submit approximately 8 pages of content including a calendar of local bike-friendly & self-propelled events.
• Enforce deadlines.
• Copy edit all writing before it is submitted to layout.
• Manage (small) editorial budget.
• Reports to Editor in Chief

The successful candidate will be willing to commit to this position for the remainder of 2009.
Momentum publishes 6 issues per year. Remaining issues are:
#39-May/June #40-July/Aug #41-Sept/Oct #42-Nov/Dec

A modest per-issue honorarium will be paid for this position.

I just got my latest Momentum.

I'm kinda disappointed by their photographs. No one is ever wearing a helmet!

Nice rag but... come on!

I thought the same thing. I was going to give my copy to my son, who is a new commuter, but I didn't want to send a bad message. Especially since he called to discuss why so many commuters run red lights...

Sounds like an awful lot of work to do for 'a modest per-issue honorarium'. :cool:
