Anyone else get that? An all-over tingling sensation and buzzing in your brain accompanied by a wait-what-did-I-just-do moment?

That's what I have right now.

I'm recovering from a wicked virus (and stress) that had me in the hospital recently, which gave me lots of time to think between naps, and I sat on my living room floor last night pondering what my challenge for this year might be. My thoughts immediately turned to triathlon, and I started searching out races.

I have a co-worker (who sits right beside me) who is a tri-fanatic. So, of course, I start asking her about various area races today. The next thing I know, my credit card is out, and I've signed up for an Olympic distance race in late June.

No better reason to get off my butt and start training for real again, I guess. Eep.

Cool Dex! Which one are you doing?!
I'm signing up for the Lake Padden (Bellingham) olympic (they call it the "competitive" division -- as it's not a perfect oly.

Congratulations on making that big move! Financial commitment plays a big role in my training! (As well of fear at being last )

I signed up for Cascades Edge in Enumclaw.

And I'm totally at peace with being last! :D

Congrats on a big commitment! I like to sign up early and know it's on my calendar and know what I'm working towards.

I had post sign up buzz after signing up for my first 70.3, and now have post sign up mortification, haven't trained for two months with vacation, major cold, and now a pulled calf...plus I have buyers remorse, it was $235, lots o money.
But I am sure in a few months the buzz will come back...:)

Are you doing the Vineman in CA? It's pretty much the same course as Barb's Race that I did last year. Beautiful course. If you can get here early I'd highly recommend pre-riding the bike route and run course. I think we went up three times last summer so I could go over the course. That REALLY helped me.

Oh and I didn't sign up for Barb's until the end April and it was the first Saturday in Aug. I went from absolutely no running to being able to run ten miles before the race. So, get healthy and then get training. :D You've got time.

thanks Veronica, it is a beautiful course, and I can't do Barb's Race which I like the idea of because it is the following weekend and will have already started school (I teach). I also won't get to try to do the course, since I will fly in 2 days before AND be using a rental, luckily the point is to have fun, and then NEXT year to kick some butt and get a spot in my age group for a championship. I was told I had to rest off the calf 15 days, and have only done 3 days and am totally frustrating.

Vineman 70.3 here I come, got 24 weeks still to train!
