Once the days get longer I will start commuting a couple times a week. 16-ish miles, 2/3 on bike path and the rest urban. The fun urban bikes are cute but I don't think they'd be practical for such a long ride. After riding my road bike a few times I wonder if a flat bar would be more comfortable (?) and provide better steering in the city (industrial area with lots of trucks). Please show off you bike so I can see what everyone rides!! Thanks!

Mine doesn't look like this anymore, but it started as

I like the rigid "mountain" frame. It accepts a wide range of tires, is very easy and inexpensive to maintain, and is relaxed and comfortable to ride, while durable and hard to kill. It also has braze-ons for fenders and racks. The paint was easy to match, too =)

Trek420-thanks for posting the other thread on the commuter bikes. I had hoot reading all of those posts and looking at the pics of the bikes. They are great.

My current commuter is my trek 4200. Recently bought from cragslist here locally. I have finaly finished making the tune ups necessary for it to work correctly. It eventually might end up with a new fork, but the new seals seem to be working just fine.

My husband thinks I'm nuts for having a road bike plus this one. He wonders if I will ride the road bike.

Sorry for the blurry picture. I had just returned home after a ride so I was beathing heavily and greeting a good picture was not going to happen. I need to get an updated shot that you can actually see the bike.

This is my other-commuting bike, totally and completely worth every cent and yes, it can go distances too. I've done 200k on it.
It usually has more stuff on and in it ;)
