So after reading everyone's tales of illness and whether or not to exercise, I broke my own rule of laying low when I don't feel well. About 2 weeks ago, when I came home from my x country ski trip, I developed a nasty cold sore. I think it's been 20 years since I had one. Despite my husband's warning that this is a harbinger of illness, I kept going to the gym, running inside, skiing, snow shoeing. Then Sunday, my tooth started hurting. It sort of moved to my whole gum area hurting, and generally not feeling well. I went the dentist and she couldn't find any cavities, etc, but when she touched certain areas, I went through the roof. Today I am going in for a cleaning and a local shot of an antibiotic. In the mean time, my head is hurting, my chest is sort of on the edge, and my stomach is not so great, either. Today, I went to do yoga. I went to warm up on the elliptical, and while I was OK while I was doing it, I felt really shaky afterwards. I figured yoga would be OK, so I started, but I got really dizzy, so I left. I finally feel a little better now, but I was debating whether I should cancel my dental appt and go to the doctor. So, I am going to get my mouth worked on today and if I still feel bad, go to the doc tomorrow. I have theatre tickets for tomorrow night!
Please rest if you don't feel good!

You should see you regular doctor.
A lot of people don't realize there is a dental health-heart health connection (http://www.perio.org/consumer/mbc.top2.htm) .

I know about the dental health-heart connection. Since I have had this before, and I am having symptoms of a viral infection, I am not overly concerned. I went to the dentist and my pain in the tooth and gums is already better from whatever that antibiotic treatment did. I am worried that this is going to progress into bronchitis, but the symptoms seem to be transitory; one minute I feel OK and then later I'll feel crappy. With all of my medical history, and absolutely nothing "terrible" ever being found, I am a little more relaxed about stuff. If i still feel like my chest is on the edge tomorrow when I wake up, I will go to the doctor.
Both of my parents had terrible periodontal disease, so I am trying to avoid that!

a bit late in the game, but I hope you're feeling better?

Regarding periodontal health, have you looked into CoQ10? apparently it's good for gums. I apparently have the beginning stages of it (bleeding gums when they pick and scrape your teeth - I wonder whose don't bleed?!?).

Anyways, you may want to check it out?

Well, I did have it all checked out, had my gums/teeth cleaned and scraped, plus a dose of an antibiotic put in the one spot it really hurt. I had a little bleeding when she cleaned my teeth, which I hadn't had in years. I was using ACT mouthwash, until they changed the formula and put alcohol in it and then switched to Crest. Now my dentist wants me to use some new natural mouth wash, which I will try when I run out of the Crest.
I am still feeling kinda bad, though, sinuses, glands. I guess I will have to give in and go to the doctor. I am just so sick of all of this. I am being good, though and not doing anything except stretch and a little yoga.

Drink plenty of fluids (wine doesn't count :p). There's always the chicken soup cure - I swear by my local Chinese resturant's Hot & Spicey Soup. Maybe it's just that I don't have to cook it, but the spicey hot part does unstuff my nose and clear my head.

Hope you feel better soon!

+1 to the wine. I had some Friday night and it didn't help the problem!
My husband now has a terrible cold and is in bed sneezing at the rate of 1 time every minute or so.
