Woke up feeling cranky, it was cold and raining. :(

By noon, it had warmed up and I layered up and did 20 miles (including my two nemesis hills I've been avoiding lately). I felt great afterwards - good mood, all smiles.

It's amazing what a good ride can do for your mood :D

My legs feel tired, but its a good tired - yay!

Deb... I so agree. Riding a bike is the best mood-altering drug I know
:)

Well, my ride... although not technically racing, I did join in an evening race at our neighbouring club.
My lads were all riding and got 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th place in their grade (my 15yr old had the fastest overall time too!)

I did 28km over rolling country ending with a 2km steep climb. I did all right and was pleased with how I went.

I stayed with the leaders for over half the distance, got dropped on one of the rollers, time-trialled myself (@ 44-48kph with the help of the tail wind) back to one person a km in front of me (dragging two men sucking my wheel), got dropped by them at the turn onto the climb, and got passed by a few as I climbed.

I ended up 16th out 29 in my grade, but I'm happy enough with that. I'm feeling strong but tired after my base training... so this was a good result.

Deb- I am jealous. I drove to work cussing DH for not carpooling. I HATE driving in the rain. Hate it! By lunch it was gorgeous and then I was cursing having a window in my cubicle where I could see how pretty it was. I am never happy. :p

No riding for me, but I did some Pilates and yoga. Can't believe how weak my core has gotten:(

I rode the spin bike at the gym for 40-45 minutes, with intervals every other song on my I Pod. Then I went to a Pilates class, which I haven't done for over a year. I was surprised that it didn't feel too hard, but some of the exercises didn't feel too good on my bruised tailbone from my x country ski falls.
I am feeling it today!

On the 6th, I got an outdoor ride of 20 miles. On the 5th, I did 63 miles, my first of 12 metric centuries planned for this year. I felt lucky to have a day in January to get that many miles! Today, we have ice glazing everything, so I won't be going out. I haven't decided yet whether to do a trainer ride or just rest and stretch.

Another Coach Troy workout on the trainer. This time the Tuscon Virtual Reality Climb to Mt. Lemmon. WOW! This was my first time doing this workout. It is about 14 miles of climbing in hard gears for about an hour and 15 minutes, with about an hour of that at threshold. I haven't done any real climbing in about a year, so this was a tough one. But, GOOD! I'll definitely be doing this one more to get myself prepared for outdoor climbing.

Forgot to mention that I did this workout following a "Body Sculpting" class at the gym (weights). The gym was PACKED FULL and I now remember why I avoid the gym like the plague in January. Too many New Year's resolution people! Come February the place will be quiet again . . .

Amanda, it's so reassuring to know I'm not the only one who periodically wakes up cranky!

I hope today is better :)

It has been too windy here for me to enjoy riding. If it is real windy my back always flairs up. Our winds have been 20-30 with 80mph gusts. I hope the wind will die down by Thursday so I can go for a ride. It is supposed to be close to 60 degrees. Yeah
