I guess you old timers probably saw my name around the boards recently. I have finally recovered from my car accident January '07. I bought a road bike (yay!) to get my legs and heart back and started riding in earnest three weeks ago. I like cross-training!

On New Years I took my DH on a 17 mile mtb ride with lots of climbing and amazing views of snow capped mountains to the east and coastal fog to the west. We had been able to do some easy riding in Bend Oregon last summer which he enjoyed, but I think this local ride got him hooked (I'm the biker in the family).

I am really better- no pain other than normal 45 year old aches. Hooray!
For all you roadies I will post a pic of my new bike soon. In the meanwhile here is a picture of the ride we took on New Year's. The trail starts at my house. The section to the left is about 6 miles on the street to get back home. We don't have many trees on our mountains. It's funny to see how some of the satellite pictures were taken when the hills were green. :)

Cross training on the road has been great for me. Have put about 250 road miles on the new bike. Went up in the hills to mtb on Friday and climbed more easily than ever before. Road riding = more time in saddle =better mtb'er! Yay!

hi FBG, I lived in simi valley for a few years and rode all over the place...chumash, hummingbird, santa susana pass, lang ranch, etc.

what's your favorite ride there? -shamrox53
