What does she do, bring cake?

She may not personally bring me cake, but she makes me want to eat cake!

Andrea,

After reading your post, I started cruising around the web looking for articles related to food cravings during menstruation. I found this one: http://tinyurl.com/2klgkv It's very straightforward and provides some easy to follow advice. Might be worth giving some of the ideas a try. I particularly liked the advice to try taking more calcium and magnesium. I'm going to give that a try myself!

Oh wow! Thanks Susan. Great article! Next time I have carb cravings, I can just tell myself I have a brain imbalance!

Lots of good info and I also found it interesting regarding the calcium and magnesium deficiencies.

I would love it if a cake magically appeared every month! It would make the rest of the experience more bearable.

Sorry this is late, and I actually don't have a weight to post as I am on a little vacattion down in Florida visiting some family. I am sure my wieght is the same if not a little more. I have gone on 2 short runs. Boy is it humid down here. I am used to the lack of humidity in CO. I will post my weight when I get back home. I need to find something that will workto help me lose some weight.

You are all very sweet. :)

Funny story - I spent 2 days shopping for that dress for an event I went to on Saturday evening. Say, 200-250 people, 1/2 of which were women. And wouldn't ya know, another woman showed up wearing the SAME dress!

Susan - You look GREAT!

You know, this past Fri night I came out of a sushi restaurant with my husband and saw a pickup with a big teamestrogen.com decal across the back, in the parking lot. I stopped and pointed at it and yelled "hey! I wonder if that's Susan's?!" My husband asked if I knew what you looked like and I replied - "not since she's lost so much weight!". Now I know...so if I do see you, I can say 'hi'. :D

(meanwhile, he's begging me to stop pointing in case the owner of the truck sees me and we look like fools! :p)

We were IN the sushi restaurant! Hot Pot & Sushi, right? My girlfriend and I were grabbing a bite before going over to Macy's to shop.

I love that place. We should do a ride and have lunch afterwards!

(BTW I keep thinking I'm going to take the decal off the back. Once upon a time, that truck was new and spiffy. Now it's much older and dirtier, and probably does me an advertising DISservice!!)

Holy cow...were you really? Wait - where were you sitting? I don't remember looking around much when we were in there. I was actually anxious to leave because I was worried about our pregnant goat. :o That's so funny though! (I too, love that place!)

A ride and lunch would be awesome!!

I was sitting 3rd seat from the hallway that leads towards the restrooms. We were sort of hidden from most of the room - right in from of the sushi chef on the far left of the room.

After my last post, I decided that sushi twice in one week was just the thing I needed, so Jeff and I went again tonight! Just got home. I don't usually eat out much, but I was having a craving (yes, it's THAT time...). I figure there are far worse things I could be craving than sushi, which, as it turns out, is actually relatively low in WW points. 2 pieces of nigiri sushi are just 1 point!

A pregnant goat... Huh. Hope THAT all turned out alright!! I actually know a goat farmer in Grand Ronde. She makes the BEST goat milk mac and cheese. :)

I'm going to ride Saturday, rain or shine. This time of year I don't get started until 10am or so, since it's too cold earlier. Probably do 35-40 miles. Wanna come? Might be 2-3 other gals along. Moderately paced. Even if we get a little spaced out, we ALWAYS group up again quickly.

Um...do you happen to remember the couple SITTING TO YOUR LEFT? Yeah...that was us.

I mentioned to my husband that you were there with a girlfriend and he immediately said "were they the ones right next to us?". We were waiting for our check as you guys were just getting there, but we remembered you two because the person right next to my husband ordered the coolest looking roe sushi thing....

And I snickered to myself because you guys both picked up the unagi nigiri that I had asked the sushi chef to make for me just 10 minutes before you got there! :p

I would love to ride on Saturday, but I really don't know that I can handle 35-40 miles right now. 20 is wiping me out (I'm SO out of shape). :o That and I'm sick today - so I don't know what condition I'll be in by Saturday. My goal is to get back up to speed (distance) asap...so keep me in mind. I have met NO other riders since we moved here because we've been so focused on the 'farm'...so I would LOVE to be able to ride with a few people.

Susan Otcenas
02-24-2009, 11:08 AM
Actually I DO remember your husband - he was immediately to my left. Short sandy brown hair? I think you'd gotten up as we were sitting down, because I don't remember seeing who he was with (?).

I love unagi nigiri, so thanks for ordering it! And the salmon roe is ikura. I love love love that, but they never have it on the track. You have to ask for it special.

I haven't made any definite plans with anyone else yet for Saturday, so if you want we can do an easy 20 together. I know all the roads out this way really well, and can string something together without any real climbing involved. It's gonna rain anyway, so we could do an easy 20 and use it as an excuse to go eat sushi.... :D If you're feeling up to it, PM me later in the week and we can organize it.

Wow I knew I loved this Forum and you all just gave me another reason to.

We are real women w/ real bodies!

Susan You look AWESOME and give me hope that I can get back there too.

Also I lurked and looked at the spread sheet. Believe it or not it really helped me. I have been trying to drop the weight gain from DBF's illness and death. I knew at the time I was gaining but didn't care because my goal was to spend as much time w/ him as possible and I thought "I will just drop it when he is better"

WELL it is not budging - in the past, when I put my mind to it I could drop at least a lb per week usually 2 or more.

I have been playing w/ the same 3 lbs for over a month and a half and I am still at least 15 lbs from fitting into my triathlon wetsuit.

Soooo when you start a new one in March - I want to be on board.
I keep thinking that if I could drop 20 lbs by the 1/2 marathon in June I will be soooooo much faster!

I am currently 171 and need to get to at least 155 by June! 3 months 15 lbs (25 would be better but I won't push it)

AND I would be able to ride up hills faster :D

Eclectic - welcome to the thread. Come on in - the water's fine! :) It will be fun to have you join us for the next round! Having a goal is really motivational, so I'm sure all the wonderful women here can help you along. I'm already pondering my goal for March/April. I'm hoping for a pound a week, which will get me almost all the way to my ultimate goal of 130 (though I may revise that once I get there, depending on how much my jiggly parts still jiggle. :D ).

All,
I really need to thank all of YOU for being so supportive. It's been a huge help (which I will continue to lean on). Something happened in November that finally spurred me to action and it gave me that PUSH that I really needed to finally buckle down and just do it. Before this, I beat myself up for a really really long time about my weight. I felt like a failure because I couldn't do it. Well, all that bad self-talk really spiralled in on me and put me in a very dark place. Which of course only made me feel like even more of a failure. You ladies helped me break out of that vicious cycle, so thank you!

Down to 150, not too bad considering I was on vacation for 6 days. Today I have been trying to really reallyhard to focus on eating well as we are going out to eat for my Birthday..For my Birthday I treated myself to a gym membership. I have not gone to a gym in close to 3.5 years. We will see what happens. I also signed up for a sprint Tri. The last time I did one was 10 years ago. Boy does time fly. Congrats to everyone and keep up the good work.

Yay, Solo, that's great! I credit alot of my weight loss to setting myself several event goals this year, including two triathlons. It's forced me to get out there and do the training, log the miles, etc. Plus, it's fun to have something to work towards!

Do you have a training plan to work with? When is your sprint?

Happy Birthday!

Susan

02-27-2009, 05:47 PM
Thanks Susan. No I don't have a training plan. I need to figure something out. 10 years ago I didn't follow any particular plan but, that was 10 years ago and my body could adapt better:p The first Tri I did I did not train at all for the swim...prior to that tri the last time I had gone swimming was 8 years earlier. So the swim portion of course was the tough one to deal with. I will glady take any suggestions. Feel free to PM me if you want. Sorry to hijack.

I'll bet you looked better in it. <g>

I went to see my doctor on Tuesday (follow up to the stomach flu/food poisoning thing) and I weighed 239.5 on her scale, a three-pound loss from when I'd seen her a couple of weeks before. On my scale this morning (Friday) I was up to 245. Alas. But you know what, that's a solid five pound loss since we started this gig, and I've been off fast food since before the first of the year. Fast food is off my menu, and I think that's the main contributor to the weight loss because, besides a couple of walks down the street, I've been too injured, sick, or exhausted to exercise in January. Or that weight loss could be lost muscle mass. Figures. Bike ride tomorrow, though. The first in weeks.

We're going to do this again next month, yes?

Roxy
