Got an early start before the big winds arrived. Ended the year with a 43 mile ride - 38 degrees and a little wind. Very nice.
It's now howling out side (gusts must be approaching 40mph), and we just had a short but showy snow squall. That marks our first snow of the year. No accumulation, thank God, and I expect the wind will dry things out in about an hour.
Surpassed my mileage goal for the year, as I logged about ~11,300 outdoors in 2008.
No new bikes in 2008, either!! :):):):):)

WOW! Way to go!
(but y'know if you logged those miles on BikeJournal, you could singlehandedly bring TE up one more position in the standings... plus you could be #1 on TE...)
I did the usual Wednesday morning group ride. It was a little cooler, which was actually a good thing since I hadn't gotten around to washing my only hi-viz short sleeve jersey (I just ordered another one yesterday). My legs were trashed from my run yesterday, but a couple of the other guys weren't feeling so strong either so it was OK. (We just let the one guy who was feeling strong take really long pulls. ;))

Great mileage, Mickchick! The wind started early here and they say 50mph gusts. I believe it; the bench on my deck has already blown over. It's just too much wind for me (I'm out at the Bay so it's even windier when you get out from the protected coves).
I'm going for a hike later, though.

I was going to ride to the store to pick up some groceries before the snow started, but when I got out of the shower, it was already coming down hard, and was sticking! So, I walked to the store instead, bought more than I planned, and had to call dbf to meet me half way so we could each take a bag.
On the way back, I saw a guy riding a mtb one handed, drinking a cup of coffee! My hero!
Looks like I have a good chunk of time off the bike coming . The last snow was 5 days off, and by the last day, everything started to ache. Sure is pretty, though!
Happy New Year, all! May you have tailwinds and dry roads in the coming year!

Rode into work today, but it looks like I'll be taking the metro home. No need to let the pannier act like a sail in this big wind!

Fun, snowy ride on the cx bikes with DH. Just 20.13 miles. I put some pics on my blog. Hope we aren't snowed in for too long now...
Happy New Year everybody :D

You could put TE as a secondary club - your miles would still go to AV in the standings, but they'd show up in the intra-club stats.
So much for passing that Australian club though ;)

Yeah and I can't stalk you 'cause you keep your miles private. :D
How many days did you NOT ride this year?

I went indoors with an eCycling class. Oy! The teacher today was a pro triathlete who finished something like third at Kona with a broken saddle. I guess she rode part of it just holding her saddle, and then finally duct taped it on. Makes Coach Troy look like Santa Claus. If I can make it through this 10 pack without hurling, I will be much improved come February.
What the heck am I talking about? http://www.enduranceptc.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28&Itemid=39

after a month maybe bit longer of no riding with sore back, I finally felt good enough to ride.
Popped some aspirin about 15 minutes before the ride, streched out carefully, my back, my glutes and hamstring. It was a very pleasant ride today. Just over 18 miles and 1260 feet of climb. Warmed up as I rode to my training ground mostly flat 5 miler then did two sets of climb. Took it pretty easy too. In the hills, I stopped and watched a flock of peacocks, males with their irridiscent plumage showing off to the drab brown colored females. Right in the middle of the road. So pretty. Misty and foggy so everything around were shrouded in the fog. And the birds were so close I could almost touch them. It was really beautiful to watch them dance...
lovely ride.
I hope to get bit more serious about my riding in 2009. No more false starts and fits... And yes I'm totally out of shape.
AND GOOD RIDDANCE TO 2008. sheesh. It was not a good year :(

I had a good many indoor days, particularly in December. The weather was colder than normal and wet (potential ice), plus was doing the Concept2 Holiday Rowing Challenge.
For 2009, I hope to crosstrain more, so I expect that my mileage will fall some.

I ended the year by riding 16km out with my partner, and then I returned home while he went on to do 120km all up. I'm not into centuries (metric or imperial) but it was important to me to ride on the last day of 2008 with him.
Thats brought my talley up to 41 bike-rides with him in 2008 (we only managed 18 in 2007).
