I haven't been on the bike outside since the 6th, but today is 58 degrees out. Too bad it's cloudy, the roads are full of muck and puddles, and earlier there were wind gusts up to 45.
As a compromise (between going out for a 20 mile ride or hiking) we rode the Jamis' to Trader Joe's and bought a couple of items we can only get there. A whopping 7.4 miles round trip, but about 1.5 miles is a serious climb. The wind had died down on the return trip and the only place it felt cold was when we rode by open fields of snow where the cold seemed to be blowing right off the snow onto me.
If it's at least 35 tomorrow morning, I will ride to yoga, but I have a feeling this was my last ride of the year.

I did a 22.13 mile ride with DH on the CX bikes. Very soggy and foggy. I don't know why I bother with all my reflective gear when car drivers can't be bothered to turn on their lights!! Otherwise, fun ride!

We did about 13 miles on the tandem. The temp was just around 30 and the sides of the road are still pretty mucky with slush piles, but traffic is generally very light on Sundays so we ventured out.
We got cold and wet and hit a treacherous patch of bumpy ice, but by miracle or skill we didn't fall. We're really proud of our riding and celebrating with a bit of Yellow Label.
The bike is in the living room for a wipe down, and the new Brooks bar tape got its first schmear of Proofide. Every time one of us walks by it, we stroke the bars or saddles and hiss, "the preciousssssss."

DH and I went out for an easy (for me) 25. He's still searching for the right saddle for his road bike. I took the opportunity to work on my spin, but my stupid cadence sensor isn't working. Grrrr. It's not the battery - I think the sensor unit has gone kaput, have to call Garmin in the morning.:mad: I can get my distance from mapmyride and figure the average speed from there, didn't even put on the HRM for tooling around (but I can live without that for cycling too), but I NEED my cadence monitor. Arrrgh.
Then I went for a run just so I could get a workout. It was supposed to be my long run day, but since it was kindasorta a brick which I don't normally do, I kept it short.
It was a beautiful day. I turned over 3500 for the year yesterday.

Yay Oakleaf! 3500 sounds great. I should keep track next year and see what kind of milage I actually am doing. I'm sure it's nowhere near that!
Great for all of you for getting out there. Roads are still way too scary here for riding. Only partially plowed, and there is snow and gravel piled everywhere on what should be the white lines and side of the roads. Maybe in about a month!? :(
Someone ride for me and tell me how it is!

I just rode 25 miles in my living room on rollers. BO-RING! But it was a good workout. Our roads are melting off, but there's so much gravel that it would be impossible to stop at the bottom of the hill. Missing my mark of 3000 by 150.:(

It was 48-54 and sunny in Texas so I thought it was a good time to ride. Proof that us native Texans are wimps, I wore a wool skull cap, tights over shorts, long sleeve jersey (mid weight), light base layer, glove liners and a cycling jacket. I was cozy the entire 30 miler. :D
I think it was possibly my last ride of the year so put my down at 2238. Way down from 3500 last year but oh well.

I got in a nice ride yesterday, went up Diablo. Coming down was chilly though.
Today I got on my dirtbike instead.

43 miles, windy but warm. I started before dawn to get another glimpse at the holiday lights.

It was warm (60s) but WINDY! 17 miles out and back on a spit between two rivers ending at the Chesapeake Bay. Amazing headwinds and side winds. Short distance, but it took alot of time and it was hard work. I had a big slice of angel food cake when I got home! yum.

I wasn't even planning to go out for a ride yesterday but it was so nice out I had to get a quick ride out to the bay & back on the Alameda Creek trail - only about 10 miles but it made me happy.
Then LeeBob and I drove way down to Moss Landing for a fabuous seafood dinner at Phil's. We shared Dungeness crab and fried oysters - that really made me happy.

I rode 27 miles with DH. It was warm (60), damp, and windy! We were lucky enough to have a tailwind on the road home, thanks to DH's good planning. My poor bike was filthy (all that spray and coastal road grit), but she got a well-deserved bath, drivetrain scrubbing, and lube. She's all sparkly now :)

Finally got my fanny back in the saddle! I have done a bit on trainer and around town 20 miler...but no real ride to speak of.
But Sunday slept in and decided to just do an afternoon ride. Mind you Florida is in the upper 70's to low 80's right now. But did it! A WARM and mildly windy ride (on the way back). Drove out to the parkway trail so no traffic (except other bikes and children!). Did a 42 mile round trip. I did some "pulls" and did not draft the whole way (good for me!). Had a head wind on the way back, but felt pretty good to say I finally got the first good ride in for the season!
The new year brings a better balance of running and biking...training for 2 different events...(hopefully this will help get the weight off!)
