My right tricep has been having spasms on and off for about four days now and it is driving me crazy...... I started spin class again, so that may have triggered it, although I had been lifting weights off and on prior to starting spinning.
Any tips?? HELP!!!!!!

Fly, I've had chronic rhomboid troubles due to some hyperextension in my sleeping position and some posture issues when I sit at my desk. Addressing those fixes it.
Can you attribute/correlate this to anything other than spinning? It seems to me that if you've done spinning before without issue, then it is likely due to something else that you've injected into the kinetics...
This is why my chiropractor is my friend...

maybe you're sweating out too much magnesium? is it long, painful spasm or just annoying twitching?
I got pvc's (weird heartbeat, nothing dangerous) from overexertion in spinning. I got high dose magnesium to make it better.

Hmmmmm.................
Two things - I did recently quit taking a magnesium supplement and I have a new chair that keeps me lower than I should be at my desk when I type............. they are both great ideas.
Changing chairs and adding magnesium to the shopping list :D
Thanks - your friend with the annoying twitch (not long and painful)..............

Though your spasms be caused by any of a number of things, do make sure you are getting enough calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D- all 3 work together and it's known that they help prevent muscle cramps and spasms.
Muscle cramps are often a symptom of calcium deficiency.

YEEEESSSSS take mag! i have been taking it for about 6 months now and not only do I not have the spasms anymore but I am sleeping better and I am calm and I was having heart palpatations. My Dr was proud of me for going for a more natural cure too! A dietician (spelling) is who put me on it.

+1 - I find all else is useless without Calcium for myself.
I think everyone varies, but get the combo (can't hurt)

I do take magnesium...and it helps. I take powdered mag but have trouble finding it commercially. Does anyone else take powdered?

Emergen-C and the other copycat electrolyte replacements contain magnesium. Also the private label brand I get at my natural food stores is encapsulated calcium and magnesium citrate powder. Nicer than just stirring a powder into liquid, yuk.
