:D:DWe're very excited that SilverDaughter was accepted to THE University of Alabama!:D:D
It's amazing how she set her sights, focused her efforts and made it happen.
Papa's little girl has grown up!:(:)
Now I need to hope she makes this choice over that other school in Alabama that begins with "A"
Anyone know of any good rides in Tuscaloosa???

Awe, congrats...
She got that far, she'll sort it out what's best;):).
Funny how those lil creatures get a mind of their own over the years:rolleyes:.
Mine are not there yet. Though they have interesting wills of their own though for sure:eek:.

Wait... so she's supposed to go to AUBURN ?
(My mom went to University of Alabama. I didn't grow up in the south but I've been back for a few Alabama-Auburn games -- they get pretty rowdy :D).
Congratulations to Silver-daughter, I'm sure she'll do well wherever she ends up!

Otherwise, it's just so sad. ;)

Roll tide!
'Bama has a special place in my heart - I spent games there with my host family (all alums). I also had the chance to catch some concerts at the music hall, also a treat.

Congrats!
I find some of the rivalry's amusing. When living in Mississippi there was a HUGE divide between Ole Miss Rebel's and MSU Bulldogs. Almost as bas as NASCAR. Maybe worse. :D
I was from a Big Ten state but don't really pay attention. My sister on the other hand is in three or four fantasy football leagues as is her husband.

Well it could have been better, but at least it's not MICHIGAN. :p
Seriously, congrats to her!

Congratudations!
Despite the fact that my co-workers know I'm from "out west" when I tell them I went to U of A, they ask "University of Alabama". Now why would they think that??? Never been there.
Does SilverDaughter know what she wants to major in? Does she have a secret second choice???

Not yet...I think it's hard for a high school senior to know...
She also has an app in to Auburn but Silver and I went to Alabama.
I'm staying out of this...it needs to be her choice, but I think Alabama is her first choice and I'm very proud that she's pursued this and worked this out totally on her own;) so all we have to do is "write the check"

I just wanted to send my good wishes to all. May you enjoy your quiet house. May she enjoy her new adventure (safely though).
Does this mean there is more cycling time?

My Dad really wanted me to go to this school in Austin, I just couldn't do it. I got in but it wasn't the place for me. I walked amongst the oaks of Aggieland and knew I was home. I broke my Daddy's heart but he knew I had to go where I wanted. Makes for some fun Thanksgivings especially with my FIL being a Texas alum. She might get in to Auburn but she will chose the right place for the next few years of her life and that is a fun choice!
Congrats on her getting in! And best wishes on letting the first kid leave the nest.

My parents thought they lost a couple stars in heaven when I chose to go to Alabama vs. Notre Dame. By the time I was a junior, they got over it.

Congratulations! I was an Ole Miss Rebel - we've had a nice rivalry with Alabama in years past! The Archie Manning days! Great school.
