NEW YORK -- Looking to beef up your mojo this holiday season?

Burger King Corp. may have just the thing. The home of the Whopper has launched a new men's body spray called "Flame." The company describes the spray as "the scent of seduction with a hint of flame-broiled meat."

And whatever you do, do NOT go to this website and click on the "spray". ACK!!!

http://www.firemeetsdesire.com/

I did it because I'm easily entertained but I'm glad it's still light out.

Yeah well if you keep spraying, he TALKS to you. I'm home due to snow and have far too much time on my hands. I am starting to believe that work keeps me out of trouble.

That is so disturbing. Notice where the spray bottle "pops up" when he's reclined by the fire?? So NOT subtle.

and seriously - WHO WANTS TO SMELL LIKE MEAT?????

And of course, due to the above statement, I have to go to the site immediately and click on the spray. As if he wasn't creepy enough....

In this case, probably CP+B. The same agency that did the mostly naked PI ads we trashed on a few months back. (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=26861)

We passed this site around the design studio the other day, marveling at what some companies let their agencies get away with.

LMAO! :D

I had to click for AGES before I got to the guy, though. Tons of cheezy music and seriously claustrophobic "mood" situations. The boat on the beach was nice, though.

(meat???)

oh gawd, sounds like something that would appeal to one of my man-child coworkers (thinks he's hot stuff w/the ladies, even though he's 50 years old, married, and no great shakes - describes women according to their attractiveness, etc).

It's really the weird creepy dated disco music that scares me most.
It transports me back to having to relate to guys who actually looked like that Burger King!   Zodiac medallions....nasty spray cologne....big gold rings....platform shoes......eeeeeewwwwww...... I'm still trying to block it all out! :(

My DH's biking legs look way more appealing than wimpy BurgerKing's 'chicken wing legs'. :p

The Burger King "King" is creepy enough without this piece of total trash. It has to be a spoof. I can't believe that BK would be this sleazy. Then again I probably haven't been in a BK in 10 years. Or more. Are they really so creepy?

Zen
12-20-2008, 11:15 AM
yeah, you would think they could have gotten a guy with a better body at least. he looks a little soft, no pun intended.

The cologne is called "Flame" (I think)

OakLeaf
12-20-2008, 12:40 PM
WTF?

Did anyone else make it as far as the massage scene? All I could think is, "is that massage oil or FRY GREASE?"

And, why is the person with the frostbitten knuckles writing in English when the voice-over is in French?

The really scary thing is, the way advertising works on the subconscious these days, even though the commercial nauseates me on a conscious level, I'll probably wake up tomorrow with an irresistible craving for a Whopper.:p

I think that we TE ladies have gotten used to seeing biking people's legs....we've forgotten what guys legs look like when they don't exercise at all. :D We're spoiled! Even if we don't have buff partners, we still get to see a lot of nice Lycra-clad bods one way or another!
His Majesty 'El Rey de Burgere' just doesn't cut it.

That's just frightening...please say it's a spoof! If ad "executives" are making money on stuff like this while so many hard workers are in the unemployment lines, something is seriously wrong in this country.

Oops, but we knew that.

Some people used to have high paying jobs and would buy themselves a BMW or Porche to feel virile. Now those same people might be collecting unemployment and comforting themselves instead by buying a cheap spray cologne and a 'happy' meal. :(
You have to kind of feel sorry for anyone who would buy 'Flame' cologne.
The King just painfully reminds me of bad comb-overs, zodiac medallions, and discos with sticky tables.

was it just me, or did the boat on the beach have subtle moaning in the background?
Creepy very creepy. But a steel at $3.99/bottle (hope I'm not the only one who clicked on buy it now to find out!)

BleeckerSt_Girl
12-23-2008, 06:23 PM
I saw on the news that the cologne is totally sold out at $4/bottle, and that in fact some bottles are selling for about $100 on Ebay now for those who just 'have' to give it for xmas.

bleeeaaaahhhhhhh!

Guess some people are not yet suffering enough economically to care much about dropping a hundred bucks on cheap tacky crud.

No, that was the collective tortured groans of all us TE'ers looking at the website.

I heard about this, though I don't think it actually exists...it was a way of letting people know about the flame-boiled Whopper or something.

Tuckervill

I actually saw a reporter on CNN trying it out on people in front of a BK. So, it does exist.

As a confirmed veggie, I have to say using a scent that smells like meat grilling ..
AGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I feel like when you go on a really, really hard long ride and it ends with a hill, and you just ate a snack, in order to hopefully get some sort of life back into your legs, and suddenly, ....it starts to come up.

I never made it past the fire. I have too good of a imagination and that guys man boobs are scary!!
And I agree, a liitle guy watching is one of the best add ons of cycling! Even the old guys have great legs!

The one scene with the King sitting in the tub gesturing to join him... it looks like there are needle marks in the crease of his elbow on the arm resting on the back of the tub!! What a trip :-)

I hesitated posting for that exact reason!
Truth is, we were talking about it at lunch the other day and one person at the table hadn't heard of it. So, I looked it up to send it to him and I was naively a little surprised to find the site still existed, much less that it had been updated.
Oddly, I find the bathtub less disturbing than the old bed scenes. I think it's because the bubbles cover more of him, and the more that is covered, the better.

They must have a G-rated version playing for me, because except for the first scene of him in front of the fireplace, I don't see the man in any of the subsequent images unless that's him getting the massage later on.

I kind of liked the fireplace by itself, too, and if it were more seasonally appropriate, I'd mute my sound and play something else while that's going. Some of the pictures were really nice, but none of the ones I saw had humans in them except the massage one and the person writing the love letter.

I don't mind missing out on manboobs, though.

They did! It's not just some guy, it's some tv guy. I keep thinking Simon Cowell (Britain's got Talent) but he's british, isn't the guy there now his american equivalent?
