I'm going to my department Christmas lunch today -- do I tell them now I won't be back on the 5th or wait?
Dr has set my back to work date tentatively for 1/12. Personally I think 2/1 sounds better.....

I would wait. No need to discuss business at the party.
If someone asks, just deflect and say you need to talk to your doctor about the specifics and will get back to them.

1. It's a PARTY. Enjoy yourself. Show off your scar and bolts! :p
2. You really don't know when you'll be back. Just wait until your favorite PT person gets their hands on you.

Bruno, if she stood near magnets, that would be a highlight of the party!

Lunch was nice. "Oh, you look so rested! Do you miss us?" Uh....no, sorry I don't... I told my minion I wouldn't be back the 5th, but he should start planning his vacation for February. If it wasn't for him I don't think I'd go back at all.
One guy started telling me how he too had a little bit of a neck ache...I showed him a picture of my xray. His eyes got big, "Oh, I guess it's not the same thing!" No chit sherlock!

Generally, men are far more squimish then women when it comes to the nitty gritty details of surgery.
Next time I shatter a bone, I'll make a point of making a 8x10 photo I can carry around with anotations and arrows pointing to some highlights of the photo. :D :D
Heal well and take your time. Work can wait. Your health and well being is far more important than your work.
Have fun at PT.
BTW, those screws are not magnetic so you can't set off the metal detector. (I think). But she might be able to "feel" some radio stations. Hope its the kind of music she likes. :D :D
Can you imagine getting the urge to start doing the hip-hop. ouie.

Yeah, just think of the fun she could have "channeling" various types of music. Now that TV is going digital, she won't be able to channel TV shows, but there is radio.
Snap, if you get a proper frilly parasole (a regular umbrella will work in a pinch), you could "second line" - which wouldn't raise much of an eyebrow in these parts. In fact the office might just join you. Some nice New Orleans jazz, and go dancing down the hall :D:cool::D
