View Full Version : inside Storage?
If I were to bring my bike inside again..I'd have to find a way to keep her out of the way in our little house....does anyone hang theirs on the wall? does it save space?

We have about 7 bikes hanging in our garage and three in a standing rack. It does give room in the garage for working on them (DH likes to piddle with his bikes). They come off the wall about 2 feet so we can't park a car in there. Since the space is smallish (built in the 1940s), we can't get either of our cars in there anyway (too tight).
I also had a small condo before I got married and mine hung in my office in a corner. It didn't interfere with the space I needed. I guess it depends on how much space you have to work with.

Is there a spot for you to put a wheel hanger in or near a corner? That way little room is taken up.

We have 8 bikes in a small 2 bedroom apartment -- 4 in the kitchen, 2 in the hall, and 2 in the living room. We have wall racks that hold two bikes each. As long as you have some wall space they work great. Good luck.
Cheers,
Pata
i was thinking about the wheel hanger in a corner.......hmmm.
good to hear that it can be done!
if anyone has photos of bikes hanging inside the house in little spaces...I'd sure like to see them!
thanks!

We have an extra whole bathroom where we only need a quarter bath. In winter, two bikes hang over the tub.
thanks Trek.......what Susan has goin on at TE is one thing that could work in front of a door we don't use....
BUT I have a friend who said that hanging yr bike by the front wheel will warp it....so is there a way to support the bike close to the middle or bottom? Take some of the weight off the hanging wheel???
deltacycle has the hanger...
OR..I JUST WENT TO LOOK AT IT..LAND IT DOESN;T SO MUCH HANG AS HOLD....IS THAT POSSIBLE?
sorry for the caps

I'm in a studio apartment and can't put holes in the walls/ceiling. Thus I got me one of these (http://www.amazon.com/Delta-Michelangelo-Two-Bike-Gravity-Stand/dp/B000ACAM38/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1228758607&sr=1-3) and I love it. I should get another one.

Old pic - I now have two bikes on the lower one and one in pieces on the floor...

Wow, what lucky timing! Now that we are +2 mtn bikes we're running out of room for storage. LeeBob is rearranging the garage even as I write this.
And thanx for the link to the other thread, Trek - I'll pass these on.

In summer, we usually have a cooler of beer iced in that tub.

I live in a 1 bdrm apt with a little foyer. I bought a rack/hook similar to this and put my bianchi on it. As a bonus the long rail that the hook goes on also can support baskets (handy for mail!) and other hooks for purses etc. The whole thing was pretty cheap (under $50) and as a bonus all the hooks can be rearranged w/o making additional holes in the wall. You can also use the hook w/o the rail and it also folds up agains the wall to get out of the way when not in use.

Thanks Elk! In my new apartment I'm going to take it to the next level and hang my two bikes (Bianchi, and the new Look 585!!!!) on a vacant wall in my bedroom that I have painted a beautiful red. :) They are art, and sexy enough to live in the boudoir. ;)

My place is small. So I chucked out all my formal dining room furniture and made it a bike room. Three bikes (one more on the way), plus room for my BF's roadie and MTB when he's over.
If we eat in, we have to sit on the couch. But he understands. ;)
