I know some of you tougher chics will be riding the Death Ride (I'm saving that for 2010 - I'll need to prove to myself I can still do it - I'll be 45 and my baby will have graduated from high school!!!!). But anyone who is riding the LiveStrong ride - are you interested in forming a TE Team?

I would love to! I've already registered as an individual, but maybe I can change it?

Hey Chris - I might have a conflict as well around that time. The Gold Rush Randonnee (http://www.davisbikeclub.org/GoldRush/) is being held around the same time and LeeBob and I might head up to the wilds of (far) No Cal to help at a checkpoint. We'll see.

Darn JoBob! These planners need to do a better job at seperating events! But that one sounds like fun!

Once again, please consider joining Team Fatty Fighting for Susan -- the team that the Fat Cyclist is trying to do. (www.fatcyclist.com) It means a lot to him, and lord knows, he needs all the uplift he can get.

Pedal Wench - I'm torn about that one, as I ride the LiveStrong event every year for my mom who passed away from cancer. I would not feel right joining a team who is riding for a specific person. I'd rather have a more open team where I can ride specifically for my mom - as this ride has become an annual tribute to her for me. I know that sounds weird.

Doesn't sound weird at all. Sounds like a perfect reason. I just want to help out if I can, since it's looking difficult for me to make one of the rides.

I suppose I should join in since both of my parents died of cancer. Maybe the Seattle ride.

Or I'll just do my usual approach and contribute to others' efforts.

As mentioned, I'll be doing the Death Ride that day - coaching for TNT, raising funds for Leukemia research and patient services - so I'll be there in spirit. :)

I have to back out of this, but have fundraising gear (wristbands, sunscreen, etc.) if someone can use it.

...too far away!

I've driven to Philly once but no way in heck can I afford to now.

Lori - are you backing out as something else came up? Or is it the mileage? I know the LiveStrong folks will allow you to change which route you ride. The 50 miler is actually a nice route and does not have that horrid climb up Metcalfe. Although, it does have a lot of people who are not seasoned bike handlers.

Christine, I've only ridden once since the accident, and I just think it's going to be a slower recovery than I first thought; I STILL have some bruises and while I've managed to stay pretty fit running (and taking swim lessons!) I haven't done much riding yet; I'm working on it, but I have to regain some confidence as well; I just don't see being ready in time. Perhaps a fall century?

Thanks! I'll get there, just not by July. Maybe the fall. I really just need to get out and just ride; I think I would feel better. This weekend kind of got away from me, but I'm actually scheduled to take a chimbing class next weekend; I figure there won't be traffic, and perhaps it will be motivating.
