Okay, ladies. This is important.

I am going to buy a pair of panniers for my LeMond Poprad for commuting. The bike is white with red lettering and I have a Brooks saddle and bar tape in honey. The rack I will be getting is black.

So, do I get boring black panniers, or do I get the blue color that I like better? There's also a leaf green color that is quite nice.

TIA

Personally, I would get the black panniers to match the rack. You want the lovely brown leather touches to be what draws the eye. A bright colored pannier would become the focus and take away from the classy leather. The bike is already eye-catching and good looking, introducing a new bright large visual element would detract from that in my opinion.
Good for you, commuting!!

See that's exactly why I came here. I would have probably bought the pretty blue ones and then kicked myself when I realized I should have gotten black.

I have been wanting to get the panniers for some time as I'm sick of sweaty back syndrome (Hawaii). And today I noticed they are marked down from $75 to $49.

Well if the blue ones really make you feel happy then of course you should get those. ;)

Which panniers are you getting? Can you show us a link to a picture?

I just put on rack and panniers too, but for grocery getting as opposed to commuting. Isn't it exciting to have a dedicated 'working bike'? :p

I got the Transit Cycle Panniers from detours. I want them for going to/from work, but also for handling small grocery runs.

I ordered black but said to send blue if they run out of the black.

I would choose the Green pannier. It compliments the honey/tan tones of the saddle and the bar tape. But go with your instinct of what you really like.:D

I admit now that I see the colors, they are not as bright and garish as most colors on panniers I have seen. I really think any of the three choices would look fine!

These (http://www.wallbike.com/berthoud/panniers.html) are tres spendy but perfect for your style needs.

These (http://www.velo-orange.com/ospa.html) have leather straps and accents.

I find green and tan to be great complimentary colors

I like the green too. To go with your "green" commute!

I love those, but they are not in the budget right now. I may get a little handlebar or saddlebag at some point, though!

Before I saw the pictures, I thought the blue and green would be the typical really bright garish colors they like to use on bike stuff.
Now I think the green would go really nicely with the honey leather. :o

I emailed them and asked them to send the green instead. We'll see what shows up! I like all three colors, which was making my decision more difficult.

I'm late chiming in here, and you've already made your choice, but I'll say that I like the green of the three choices. I think the black and blue are nice, but I think the green gives an extra special added color punch to compliment the bike and saddle/bar tape.
