One of my friday night dinner gang is getting married in September. We'd like to throw her a party. Any ideas? Las Vegas or San Francisco? Our age range is 21 (the bride) to 55 - so I'm not sure an all-out-raver party would be the thing.
Maybe a night on the town, then a day at the spa?

Drunken kareoke is always fun. We did that at my bachelorette party.

I'm not sure that Snap needs any ideas that involve alcohol. You are planning to have a designated driver, aren't you? Or at least someone who can find the hotel elevator?

How about a road trip where each group has to solve a clue to pick up her "gifts", gag or otherwise, and would culminate at the restaurant or spa of choice? Only your imagination would be the limit to the creativity of the clues.

A limosine will be involved - no matter where we end up or what we do! :D

Hmmm, why not both? Drunken kareoke AND spa!!
I'm thinking Japantown in San Francisco has a pretty good spa and I'm sure has kareoke...or head North for wine tour (glad you have limos, don't drink and drive or hit the cyclists) and mudbaths in Calistoga or Sonoma Mission Inn in Sonoma? Great places there for you to ride afterward but I don't know if there is Drunken kareoke in Sonoma or Calistoga. You could bring your own machine.
Or book the Napa Valley wine train and have it end with a stop at a spa.

Hey, if your going to "travel", don't rule out Tahoe. I went to a BP there once (south shore) and we went out on a sunset cruise on the huge catamaran, had a great meal at Evan's, and hung out on the beach during the day. Lots of stuff to do, even rent bikes if you want! Of course we went to the club at Caesar's in the wee hours. Fun!

I know several people that have done/been to BPs in Vegas, the nice thing there was: those that wanted to stay out all night and party could, those that wanted to call it quits could. Vegas: the town the never sleeps. ;)

I've only given one BP and it was a night out on the town event. It could be done wherever you decide to have it. The batchelorette was given a "scavenger hunt" she had to complete before we let her go home. Part of the list was activities she had to complete (like riding a mechanical bull) and the rest was things she had to gather (which I was able to make into a scrap book). It kind-of gave the night purpose and we all had fun and got to talk to lots of people and there were no embarrassing memories of stripper related activities.

the most meaningful pre wedding gathering was one for my sister. In lieu of the traditional "party" she wanted something more meaningful. We did a ritual gathering for her, peices of it gleaned from many sources. The basis was the transition from girl to woman, based on the girl-woman-crone tryptich of goddess mythology. It was a long ago and I do not remember all the pieces, but there were woman, crones and girls of all ages involved. We created a sacred circle, gave her a ritual bath, and each of us had a small gift for her.
