View Full Version : Your Sunny Day

Oh, do tell me that the sun is shining SOMEWHERE out there. Tell me about your blue skies, not-too-hot-not-too-cold, the fact that you have to wear sunglasses outside, there is actually some sun for your sunscreen to screen...

My bike to work week goal is SHOT! Maybe tomorrow. The weather guys (who predicted "partly cloudy" today) say only 10% chance of rain. I don't think it's EVER going to stop.

I realize, however, that this is my fault because I (1) put my summer patio furniture out and (2) switched out my "shorts and tanktops" and "sweaters and long sleeve Ts" shelves.

Do you really want to hear what a nice, sunny (but very windy), just about getting too hot, but not quite there yet ride I had this morning? And the oh-so-lovely tan lines I've already established because I actually forgot my sunscreen last Saturday and burned my shoulders to a crisp? I didn't think you would... ;)

Sending some nice weather wishes your way...

YES!!!!

(though I'm sorry about the sunburn. shoulders always seem to take it, and the tops of knees)

Up until last week I could be heard saying "You know, I find that I really don't mind the weather this spring."

It was the OTHER yellow speaking, I'm sure of it.

Warm and sunny in Lincoln, Nebraska. Of course, I have stuff that absolutely needs to be done inside today.

You might try going out for a short ride, just to let the weather gods know that they can't intimidate the likes of you. It works.....eventually.

Well, after months of rain, including ALL day yesterday, I can actually see some blue sky out here on the N. Ca. coast, so here's hoping it is headed your way. Supposed to actually be warm and sunny this weekend.

I wonder if the silence from Kim and V is not a good sign. They're directly in our weather path. :( Please tell us good stuff. I can see a patch of blue sky again.

OK, a good thing -- I can see one of those huge rust-colored dragonflies outside my window. They are a harbinger of summer for me. I feel much better now. :) :) :)

It's been sunny and warm so far this week here in Atlanta. I rode after work on Mon & Wed. The forecast for this afternoon is for scattered showers. Right now, it's sunny and 80 in my part of town and the radar looks pretty clear so I'm crossing my fingers for a ride tonight too.

I am in Gainesville Georgia north of Atlanta and it has been very nice lately. It did rain out my ride Sunday. I have been having horrible allergies this season though so I have to dope myself with Allegra or something before I leave on a ride and I curse everyone cutting there grass as I pass by!

I'm hoping Nuthatch will post that there is sun in her corner of the world. It would make my day to know that there truly is sunshine somewhere close to my neighborhood. We've endured a week of below normal temperatures - wind and clouds. I'm starting to lose my sense of humor not to mention the fact that my weather triggered migraines have been niggling their way into my world ...

There - I feel so much better for venting!

Thanks ladies :D

remember me?...the one that lives in New Mexico the Land of Enchantment??...where yes, it's gorgeous, sunny, not a cloud in the sky - even the moutains have a slight blue tinge to them today. My lunchtime ride it was 81 with winds NNW @ 7. The predicted high today is supposed to be 95 but ya know our humidity is well...in the single digits most days!

Am I helping any hun?? ;)

It's not all your fault yellow, I got my car detailed last weekend. I'm sure that is the reason it drizzled incessantly today!

But the good news is - I see blue sky this afternoon, with some of those big fluffy white cloulds. Weather Underground says clear and warm this weekend for both our areas. :D :D

Thanks, guys. Your sunny descriptions cheered me up! This nationwide weather report is way cool.

(I just ran into a friend/coworker in the hall and she got this big grin on her face and said "If it doesn't quit raining soon, I'm going to go out on the roof and start shooting people." Glad to know it's not just me! This is Kalifornia for crissakes!)

I believe the sky is a lighter shade of gray this afternoon! :)

Hey, y'know, when mine were acting up a few months back I thought those allergy meds were affecting my performance, as in having a "positive" effect. Hmmmmm...maybe there is something to this performance enhancing substance thing. But then of course I think of Red Bull and Crank e-gel as performance enhancing substances as well, at least for me!

Boohoo! T-storms today, as you probably guessed! But we had lovely weather earlier this week - and Saturday looks fine (so far). We need the moisture down here. Every rain storm this spring has mysteriously divided like the Red Sea around the Chicago area and we are bone dry.

Those weather headaches are a pain in the booty - I almost fell over today with all the head pressure - it makes you feel all woozy and you can't think in a straight line either! But migraines - ugg, that's got to be the worst.

We've had alot of grey, cold weather just like you and I guess most of the Cali girls - it's mighty discouraging and anyone even slightly prone to SAD (like me) feels like getting in the bed and pulling the covers over their heads!!! And that April warm/dry spell was just a teaser!

Nuts ... I was hoping you were having nice(er) weather. Looks like we need to make a road trip to the Land of Enchantment!!

Saturday is looking decent here as well - keeping my fingers crossed.

With all the rain we've been having the last three days everything is an incrediable shade of green. With the mist, low clouds and beautiful green I can pretend I'm in Scotland :)

Yeah, why is that misty cool weather so much more enjoyable in Scotland? I guess because if we were there we'd be having wee drams o' whiskey and lots of vacation dollars to spend with the prospect of the sunny ol' USA to return to in about two weeks! That, and they have castles. Castles make up for alot of yucky weather.

Land of enchantment....ahhh! We could all use some baking desert heat about right now, Corsair! Can you help??? :D

Well, today it rained but tomorrow it is supposed to be warm and sunny and the forecast for the next 10 days is the same. My sister and I are going down to the Salinas Valley on Saturday for a ride and they're saying it should be sunny and in the 80's. I hope your weather gets better - nothing is more irritating than wanting to ride but having wretched weather.

Alert Alert!

It's not raining this morning, only drearily cloudy. Hope it'll hold out for my ride to work.

I know what the weather guys say, but I won't believe a sun exists until I see it (though I did see it peek through for about 5 minutes yesterday evening--that must be the "sun" SK heard was coming. I managed to get a 14 mile ride in with only minor sprinkles and wetness).

In the meantime I'm on TravelZoo-dot-com looking for cheap tickets to go and visit Corsair or maybe skibum (I've never been to Atlanta and would love to go)!

It's been very pretty down here in Dallas, TX. Mid-80's in the afternoon, with a nice breeze.

OF course, the weather guy says it's going to be a high of 96 tomorrow and 99 on Sunday. Guess I'll ride early those days. I'm so excited about riding this weekend!

And can I just say this ... why didn't anyone TELL me how COOL that cycling is?!?!? And how great it feels?? How dare these people keep this great truth from me! I wish I had started years ago.

You know what is weird? I just spoke to Hubba Bubba in Salt Lake City and he said it was sunny and 88 there yesterday. Since when does SLC get warm before Sacatomatoland?

Bikerhen - aren't you guys in a world of hurt due to drought? Besides, I want those trails in Bend in tip top world-class gummy shape next week. :p

We're actually in flood watch in NO CA because of the heavy snow pack, late rains and suddenly warm weather. Can't believe I'm saying this, but we need the rains to stop for a bit.

I have bed space for 11 people and plenty of floor space, got a sweeet 32+ mile ride right on the Rio Grande and we could take a day, drive up to Santa Fe and run around like teenagers! Ya'll can even bring your dogs, enclosed back yard with a dog door......heck bring your cats - I would never know. I've got plenty of garage space for all the bikes and a couple of racks!

You're welcome to come to Atlanta any time! Although I warn you, we're about to hit that hot & humid time of the year. It won't keep me from riding but I'll be jealous of those of you that get much more pleasant temps in the summertime.

Ride a few miles for me Nuthatch - we're enjoying a week-up 'up north' with son's #1 & #2 and 7 dogs! Will be doing a bit of spring clean-up such as mowing the lawn, cutting brush from around a couple of the apple trees and plowing, disking and picking rock on a couple of new food plots for the wildlife. Hopefully getting projects completed this week-end will allow us some fun time over the holiday week-end. Especially since our favorite ice cream shop opens next week-end. I'm dreaming of almond joy ice cream ...

Well, our flawlessly sunny day didn't turn out quite so sunny but it was really nice to have warm, dry weather to ride!

My ride partner and I had loni0908k along with us for the ride! It was sooo cool to actually meet one of the TE members in person. And we all survived our 75+ mile ride (a first for all of us). Now we just have to do it two days in a row next month. Are there enough aspirins and energy bars in the world to do the job?

Especially since our favorite ice cream shop opens next week-end. I'm dreaming of almond joy ice cream ...

Almond joy ice cream? MMMMMM!! How many miles do I have to ride to get a scoop of that as a reward, BC?

Another U2 Fan!!! In case anyone is wondering ... after two days of normal temps we are back to the cool, misty weather that has a bit of a stiff breeze mixed in for good measure.

Looks like I'm back to castles and wee drams ... for any of you ladies who enjoy celtic music check out Steve McDonald's cd's. Great for trainer tunes :)

Nuthatch ... it is so sinful (one of those ice creams that probably has 38% butterfat) ... my theory is any amount of biking time spent working off Almond Joy ice cream (from the ice cream shop in Elcho, WI) is better than sitting around thinking how good that second scoop was!

Awesome on the week-end ride! I hope those of us who reside in the midwest can pick a date/time for a TE members ride.

Since you survived the 75+ mile ride I know you can definatley 'bank that ride' towards almond joy ice cream.

Hey Yellow, cheer up, you could live in the Northeast.
The weather page for those of us in Massachusetts says rain or showers for the next 8 days. And its cold!!! It feels more like March here than May. This has been the coldest, wettest spring I can remember in a long time.

Hunny, no sales tax and the Pearl Izumi outlet store! Yeah baby!

So my sunny day? A little cool, occasionally windy, but sunny enough that I have a sunburn on the part in my hair where my helmet has a vent. Oh well, pigtails do prevent helmet hair. Had a great rolly polly ride through Sisters, whizzing along with the road not too far from the trail, feeling bad for all the poor people stuck in their cars, not having half as much fun as me. Okay, not as bad for the people driving home the the Pickett's Charge stage race. :p

Yeah, that did break my heart, even when they were jerks about returning a shirt the pilled like crazy. Hello, it was layered under a fleece, with no zipper don't even blame my backpack LL Bean boy!

The whoops at the bottom of the Sisters loop? Oh, you mean the big boy. I actually rode the Suttle Tie Trail the other day.
