I think the woman was highly offended when I said "excuse me if I smell like horse, I just got done spending time with the horses"... as I brushed off horse "something" from my sweatshirt :D

My Mom laughs and says "I can't believe you go shopping after you come out of that barn.... what a kid" :D

Do I ever relate to your post. I spend many hours a week with 15 camels and end up smelling like them, which, by the way, is a good thing. When I first began this work, I so loved the way I smelled when I got home that I didn't even want to shower (but I did and do). :D

I grew up on a chicken farm. Chickens stink, in case you've never been around them. There was a story about another chicken farmer in the community. His wife would nag him to shower and change before they went anywhere, to which he had two answers:
1) We're only going to (the feed store, the hatchery, the slaughterhouse). Everybody knows me there.
2) We're only going to (the bank, etc. etc.). Nobody knows me there.

there she goes bragging again about her horse. :)
I used to go to my friend's house (5 years ago) just so i could rub my hands all over her kid's pony so i could smell like horses too.

Now with bikes, it's a little different, we get these chain ring tattoos. but it's the same thing. "you're going to X with those grease stains on your (leg, sock, slacks, face :p ???"

Eastern Oregon is definitely the wild west. In Sept. we have one of the biggest rodeos in the country--the Pendleton Round-up. This past year I'd been on my bicycle and just needed to grab something quick at the grocery before I headed home. Men in 10 gallon hats, ropers, and Wranglers really look sideways at a "mature woman" in lycra in Safeway.:D

I do too. I always wanted a horse. Still think they're just beautiful. Love the smells of horses and cows. Pigs and chickens not so much.
