FS: Nashbar Pack/Rack System

Again, I am selling this on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280286054725), but I thought I'd give a heads up here.

I bought this two years ago when I felt I needed to take a first aid kit for 20 with me on rides, but I've never used it, have since learned to pack lighter, and currently all of our road bikes are sporting carbon seatposts that are not compatible with this type of seatpost-mounted rack. So I'd like to sell it.

I really like this and was going to get it but then noticed you said it won't fit on carbon seat posts. My seat post is carbon but my frame is aluminum, so I'm guessing it won't fit then, right?

Hi Squirrell,
depending on the size of your seatpost, it may FIT on a carbon post (though it doesn't fit on my carbon posts), but the issue is more that it is generally not recommended to attach seatpost-mounted racks (which put the entire weight of what you're carrying on the post) to carbon posts, at all. I am still afraid of my carbon :D, so I'm not inclined to test this advice, but...

FWIW, my carbon posts are 31.6. The rack fits 27.2 posts, and there are 27.2 carbon posts. But again, it's more about whether the weight is safe for the carbon than the size.

Oh, ok. I didn't know that about Carbon posts. Glad I asked! Too bad, too. I really like that system :(
