We're doing a 12hr mtb event in a few weeks & I needed to get my first night practice in. I was a bit apprehensive since it's been 1 1/2yrs since I've done any mtn biking at night. I missed the 12hr last year due to injury :(
So tonight was: play with lights, beat certain parts of the track & memorize the second half as I keep getting mixed up!! That and not freak myself out when I hear rustling in the bushes..it's just roos..
Why is it that when I mtn bike in the dark, I figure stuff out??? I keep coming to two bits of trail and they beat me. I must have had cobwebs in my head when I wondered where the best line was..Until tonight
AHA! Finally figured out that I must go right, right & immediately left to get over! AHA!!
The second bit is a short sharp uphill grind with a rooty section towards the top. AHA! That one is stay right & grind.
My lights are great & had few issues with them. I love them!!! Ahhhh.. There was another rider out there & she mentioned the lights were great!
The last thing i have to work on when i venture out again Monday night..the second half of the course. It;s a mix of new & old courses but I must miss one arrow & follow a different bit for a short while.
I love night riding :) and am so happy to be part of a 4 person social team.
Ahhhh...singletrack..
