View Full Version : Should Fredwina change her name?

Been thinking about this (see what not riding your bike does to you:eek:)
My "real -life" club tagged me with the nickname "the Shark". While I don't really like that one, I was thinking more along the lines of "la Tiburon", This is Spanish for "the Shark", although i've been informed that Sharks have male genders (i.e. it should "el Tiburon", but that doesn't exactly fit in with Team E:))
So, what do you have to say?

Fredwina needs to heal and be able to get back on her bike and post more pics! I like your name as it is :D

So there. :)

Both Bleeker and I changed our name. If you think you need the mojo of a new stronger (sexier, more exotic, however you see it) name, I think you ought to change it.
People recognize you from your posts and your avatar. Don't change both at the same time!!

I think it's okay to be "La Tiburona," I don't actually speak Spanish but I've seen that kind of construction before.

But I like Fredwina...

No multiple personality disorder like Mimi and create a new name then log in on the old one. :) I like Fredwina.

I don't know, but I made up a haiku for you.

If peaceful shark asks,
"Hey! You want a piece of me?"
it's our Fredwina.

"fred" is a germanic root that means "peace."

I don't like it when people change their names. I forget who they are (all except Mimi, who could forget that avatar?!?) :D :p

I did, too. And my avatar changes with the season, so do try to keep up! ;)

I like Fredwina, too. It's got that certain jazz....

I like Fredwina (the name, & the person behind it).

But, if you want to change it, that's entirely up to you.

"Fredwina" and long, impressive, unsupported/randonneur-type rides with great photos are indelibly linked in my head.

I changed mine, too. You can always revert to Fredwina if you decide you don't like the new one.

It wouldn't let me do a multiple choice pick

What you call yourself is entirely up to you! But if you go with la Tiburon, you'd better sign "Fredwina" so we know who you are!

I want to change my vote too.

It's your handle, Fredwina (or La Tiburona). Self-deprecating is fun for a while but I can see how it would get old. Do what you like. But +1 on keeping a sig line that lets us know who you are until we get used to the new handle!

Yes...but if you go with "Tiburon" I will forever think of you as an old Hyundai (http://www.motorauthority.com/hyundai-tiburon-to-be-replaced-by-rwd-coupe-in-09.html)! And that just won't work.

"la Tiburon", This is Spanish for "the Shark"

FYI - It's 'El Tiburon' not 'la'

I just changed my name from something as basic as my name to a nick name I was given by another rider who I did a couple of events with this year. He started calling me Short Cut Sally instead of my name, shelly, so I opted to change..I wanted something different...I like Fredwina, but you do what ever you have to. Sometimes change is good.

You could add without subtracting.

Our cat, now has so many names only he remembers them all, but lately he is:
Princess (because DD dressed him up royally in days gone by) Prince Michael (in remembramce of Michael Jackson) Tiger (Christened by DD at age 4) T. (which stands for "the") Cat (rather obvious) the Noble, Wise, and Noisey, and non-eater of birds.

So you could be crowned Fredwina Tiburana, the Shark (for monolinguals)
