Hi, Bicibellacey.

You just joined today and you already have 5 items to sell? Why don't you find the thread "Getting to Know You" and introduce yourself.

I know I tend to only buy from known members.

Hey I looked around for "getting to know you" as I would def do that... but I dont quite know my way around yet so it may take a min b4 I am known. I am in the beginning phases of testing diff cycling companies sizes(some hits and some misses) and therefor my first with having useful stuff (that doesn't fit me) laying around with not many women in my life to share it with. In selling it I am then able to get new gear that does fit. im thrilled about every aspect of the discussion forums... thanks for the comment and hope I dont seem to be such a drop in-unload-leave cuz Im not going anywhere ... but in fairness what's wrong with selling stuff soon as i join? Its good tasteful useful stuff/:) surely Im not irritating anyone the day I join.

It's the very first thread (with a permanent sticky) on the very first forum.
http://forums.teamestrogen.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7

It may be good tasteful stuff, but it is good tasteful Netiquette to introduce yourself when you're asking strangers to trust that you'll send them something for their cash. This isn't eBay with a buyer protection program.

Hang around. Get to know the culture of the forum. Lot of great people.

i have two pairs of andiamo underwear. I don't like them at all. they are black. they are expensive, and no one wants your used underwear.:eek::rolleyes:

Um, why the harsh responses here? First thing I do if I have something used to sell is try to find an appropriate forum with a for sale sub-forum. I've never been told I should introduce myself first. Before piping up with an opinion in a heated discussion, sure, but not just to sell something.

I bought a pair of these and they fit like granny panties in the x small! Since I figured no one would buy used underwear, they got trashed. I replaced them with the Sugoi liner short, which are perfect.

No offense intended, but I have to agree w/SK.

I would only purchase things from someone whose been here awhile and gotten to know virtually.

It probably would be better for the OP to sell her stuff on e-bay, where people could see her "rating."

I also participate in other forums where people sell stuff quite successfully -- only when they are a known member or vouched for by a known member. The rest? Their stuff lanquishes. I'm not sure why my suggestion to introduce oneself to get a better response is "harsh."

Yeah, I know we often ask people to introduce themselves, I've done so myself. But it was the implication that it was a breach of netiquette not to do so that I meant when I said harsh. Well, that, and the "dirty underwear" comment. No big deal, I was just a bit surprised.

lph, I think part of what makes the difference on this forum is that it is a relatively small group compared to many forums where you can just get lost in the masses. That's why I made the comment about the "culture of this forum."

Every party is different whether you are in person or on line. When in Rome, etc., etc., etc. :)

thanks for the rebuttle on the "dirty underwear comment" as I would never be distasteful enough to sell dirty... i tried them on over a protective layer and they did not fit , so I want to sell them to someone who will like them. I enjoy not trashing things that are worth something to someone, and if theyre not, I will give them away to a thrift store. sorry guys, but why all they heat? Im just selling a few things from my closet and I cant believe the controversy it has caused. get real and have a nice day, cuz some of these comments are making me not want to hang around in this exclusivity of a "free-for-all" website. anyways- have you ever tried to sell on ebay? its awful and I dont work that way, I prefer community based...is that cool?

SadieKate
11-11-2008, 07:13 AM
Yeah, it's cool. But members of a community know each other. Hie thee to the "getting to know you link" I provided.

one more thing... were all here to learn, make connections, teach, and maybe sell a few things to eachother.... if you prefer to buy from someone you know... then do that... but dont get all crazy on trying to silly out
my sell by saying "we prefer to know you", thats fine, but not everyone feels that way as I have an interested buyer already that has no group identity problems. Just a nice girl who wants some shorts. isnt that all were really talking about here?

I didn't mean to imply that your garments were dirty; only that people have trouble getting their heads around buying used undergarments.

If you don't care to figure out how to improve that ratio, not my problem. I was trying to help.

We had a situation here several months ago were someone was ripped off buying something advertised on this site.

So it's no surprise that some of us are gun-shy about purchasing items from someone who just joined the list.

do me a favor, dont try to help anymore, your comments are in the negative and I prefer to communicate in the positive. I wonder how many people are detoured from estrogen or my sell posts. b/c of threads like this. you really are making a difference, by running people off with your caddy comments. I thought this was going to be a nice place to learn about bikes. If you don't have anything nice to say... why say it at all? hints your 8000 posts i guess. sorry for minding my own business while still managing to get in your way. have a nice day where ever your from, here in Denver, our Community, we don't all know each other, but we provide respect unless reason for due cause otherwise. peace.

Wow.

Well, seeing as the fact that all you've 'contributed' to this forum is to bombard us with for sale posts and treat us like your own personal Ebay (and remaining anonymous while lecturing us about 'community'), all I can say is, buh-bye.

I'm glad for all of SK's 8000 posts.

Any of you get the email? Terry is having a half off sale. Limited items, but some nice stuff.

Buh-bye..what about bikes again?... oh yeah, its more about taking sides here.
You know, maybe if you guys gave me more than less than half an hour to let you get to know me I could have changed your minds, but YOU BOMBARDED ME with hasty comments about this being my personal ebay and thats not nice. So i want to sell a few things, so what? does it look like I know anything about ebay? am I taking money that you think should go to what you might want to sell? whats the big deal? Just like anything in America.. you think its set up to help when all it does is marginalize those who have not had "in-Group" status for long enough and Im over it. Way to go girls... keep them noses in the air maybe you might get a whif of respect for others if you wait long enough.

p.s. whens the next babysitters club meeting... I wouldnt want to make any of the other group members chapped.

Bicibellacy,

I am the person that said she was interested in your padded skins.

I just sent you another PM.

I am very uncomfortable with the tone that this thread has taken.

I have never been involved in a controversy on this site, and I certainly don't want to be the one to help cause one now.

I didn't take your post as selling "dirty underwear." If I buy a pair of used bicycle shorts from someone (which I have in the past), and she has worn them "commando," (which she had), to me it is the same thing as buying your padded skins.

Please reconsider staying around. I agree witht the comment that it is a really nice group and a wonderful place to learn about all the ins and outs of cycling - as well as to sell a few items now and then. :)

'Scuse me, but SK made a very reasonable suggestion, you're the one who responded by BOMBARDING us with your rants.

And from you responses, you let us get to know you pretty darn well.

I was going to put you on ignore but your ranting & raving is turning out to be way too entertaining.

Sorry guys, I have to side with Bicibellacey. There is nothing that says you have to become a regular member of TE to sell anything. Please back off.
