That time of year has arrived when my weekday rides take place inside on the trainer. :(
I'm trying to motivate myself by adding some new tunes to my playlists.
What songs really get your cranks turning?

Give me that hard core Rock!
From the old(er) groups, just about any song from my two favorite groups Queen and AC/DC. Abba and Styx have some good ones, and a few disco tracks can get my heart rate up as well. Also have a thing for Kansas, Boston, Van Halen and the sound track from Rock Horror Picture Show.
For the new(er) groups, Green Day has some great ones, and Nicklebak has a REALLY good one (Animals). Of course I can't think of any others right now. I have yet to bring out the trainer and MP3 player. bikerHen

Salsa. Yes, that is why that's my forum name. Try any of the three CDs made by Spanish Harlem Orchestra. The middle one, Across 110th St., features Ruben Blades as vocalist in several songs and won a Grammy in 2005 for best salsa album. Their latest, United We Swing, is nominated for a Grammy this year also. I rock out to these guys all the time.

I'm heavily into trance for the high speed workouts.
For slower speeds, Jem, Dave Matthews, Derek & the Dominos, Allman Brothers..

Hmmm, I'm so bad about knowing the name of the songs. I was an indoor spinner first, before I re-found the love of outside. There are many songs I hear in my vehicle that make it difficult for me to drive because my legs want to do pedaling related things:o.
Here's a few songs. My songs go with mini-mental vacations. Great thing about riding inside, you can close your eyes and check out, without worrying about getting "taken out".
Green Day "Nice Guys Finish Last"
you can still be nice... BUT DON'T FINISH LAST! pick it up, baby:p
Nickleback "Far Away"
the guitar is so sweeping, it feels like flying at wharp speed around a sea side mountain on a perfectly paved cliff road, and curvy... no cars, it's safe:cool:
Creed "With Arms Wide Open"
sweeping down the mountainside to the finish line, everyone that has ever cared about you in cycling is there with open arms to celebrate victory
Creed "My Own Prison"
hard climb til ya puke song, like prison chains are draggin behind your wheel... only you are tougher to break jail
Baha Men "Who Let The Dogs Out"
nothing like a good dog chasing to pedal like he$$
***** Cat Dolls "How Many Lies, How Many Times"
jazz horn, wet dark cold inner big city back streets, heavy pedaling/resistance... like ya mean it with a purpose, no lookin back GF
Sister Sledge "We Are Family"
perfect sunny day, best club/friends ride for nothin but fun... 'have faith in you, and the things you do'... sing it now :D
Jo Dee Messina "Burn"
have a passion...
"Bring On The Rain"
regardless of what life brings us, we're strong... even if it is being stuck inside on the trainer
This is not the thread I was thinking of, but it has some links to sites I know our gym spin teachers use still. Seems like it was a five star rated thread in the spinning section. Maybe someone else might have a memory jog...

I think I have very broad musical tastes. I like everything from classical to Country to classic rock to hard rock...but no hip hop for me! For spinning, I like loud, energetic music.
I just bought the Seether CD - Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces. Love it! I'll admit there are a couple of tracks with a little more screaming than I generally like, but for the most part, a really good CD.
Crank it up to eleven and listen to Foo Fighters-The Pretender (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKhnmUdmz74)

Pretty much everything the Crazy Cannuck said plus....
Anything Meatloaf - special mentions to Bat Out of Hell and Paradise by the Dashboard Lights (and they are long too)
Anything from the Blues Brothers (and I have the jersey to match too) so just shake that tailfeather!
Lynard Skynard - Sweet Home Alabama (and I'll even give Kid Rock's latest thing a try when I get around to it)
Wolfmother - Joker and the Thief
Smashmouth - Walking on the Sun
Girls Aloud - Jump (for my love)
Chris Rea - nearly anything will do
Oh - and the obligatory collection of Star Wars Theme, Rocky's Theme, Eye of the Tiger... probably a bit naff but they still really do it for me riding or running!
KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See
Elvis Presley - the remix they did of Little Less Conversation is sensational for intervals (and long too)
And surprisingly, some Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, any of Robbie Williams' Swing While You're Winnning, any Bob Seger. And on mellow days - a run with Norah Jones or Joshua Groban or the Ten Tenors singing something really loud in Italian really hits the spot.
It's all good!!:)

My husband and I have about six different bike thrash mixes. Most include Pearl Jam, REM, the Who, Queen(i want to ride my bicycle), stained, judas priest, epic, pantera, motorhead, Bush, Metallica, Three doors down, Black crowes, etc. It has to be loud and upbeat.
Lynard Skynard - Sweet Home Alabama (and I'll even give Kid Rock's latest thing a try when I get around to it)
Skip that track and listen to Rock and Roll Jesus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iihsBmfAhsQ) instead

I've been think about the music I like and came to the conclusion that the songs have to have fun, interesting lyrics and not a lot of long repetative music. And of course the beat has to be fast. bikerHen

Hmm - that seems pretty cool.
Actually the main reason I liked his latest offering was that it pretty much ripped off two songs I liked a lot the first time around and I thought he did a good job in how he used them.
Kid Rock hasn't really been a big thing over here in Oz (until this song which is getting lots of airplay) other than for his "What WAS he thinking?!" taste in marrying Pamela Anderson!

Hm, these are the ones that come to my mind right now. I have lots more, but my brain is tired today.
+1 on Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Lately we've been starting spin class with Fleetwood Mac - Big Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwGQKuUeQC8). Amazing.
And I love Queen - I'm In Love With My Car (I like to think I'm the clean machine and my legs are the pistons a-pumpin)
Eminem - Till I Collapse
Pete Yorn - For Nancy
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Runnin Down a Dream
We Are Scientists - Mucho Mas ("I got a bit, I want mooooooooorrrrreeee")
That's all I've got right now.

Springsteen - Thunder Road and Born to Run.
Foo Fighters - All My Life and Overdrive.
I can set my mp3 player to repeat any of these songs over and over and it will get me through an hour of interval training on the stationary bike.
You can't go wrong with Foo Fighters

I've been on a punk and ska kick lately, so I've found the following motivating
Against Me!
Ramones
Anti-Flag
Streetlight Manifesto
Mustard Plug
Operation Ivy
I definitely need some variety though, so I'll toss in some rap/r&b (TI, Akon) and a little more mainstream/pop (weezer, linkin park *hanging head in shame*...I actually enjoy riding to womanizer by brittany spears....shhh...don't let anyone know :) ).
