Ugh, I got these new Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX tires because I am so stupid and vain and they were white walls. Anyway, impossible to put on. I screamed "You dirty Italian *expletives*" over and over again and left them to my roommate. Even he had to use levers which is against his personal code of ethics or what not.

So somewhere in removing the old tires I pinched the tube. Roommate patched it but immediately filled it so it won't hold. Now I can't get these evil evil tires off! I'm a little worried! Are they always gonna be like this? I'm holding a contest at work tomorrow for the first person to get the stupid thing off. I can't in good conscious dump it off at the sweet little mom and pop bike shop downstairs.

I know the bus schedules really well, but don't want that to be my flat plan. How long do they have to be mounted to stop being so ornery? I seriously considered microwaving them to get them on!!! Then I remembered it wouldn't affect the bead much. GRRR! Any tricks, any? Any?

For sale, one pair Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX 700x23 tires. Only mounted, never ridden *snicker.*

Once the tires have been on your rims and ridden for a few weeks they will loosen up just a bit and be easier.
If you already have them half on, why don't you put a new tube in and try them out for a while? The first time is the worst.

If tire levers don't work, I'm not sure what to tell you about trying to remove them...but if you ever do get the tires off, soapy water on the bead should make it easier to put 'em on (this works on my moped tires, anyway).

I have big, heavy-duty, metal tire levers for my moped...I wonder if that's what would be best for your evil tires of doom?

Nylon tire levers will probably break on these tires. Use steel-core levers.

I just purchased some Bontrager Hardcase tires. I find that it's the right combination of tire levers. Some are too flat to hook to the spokes to take it off and others are too thin, like DebW said, to put it back on. I used Wrench Science levers to take it off and a combination of levers to put it back on. I also put on those gardening gloves with Kevlar, and that helped get a grip on the tire. One had a pinch flat so I did it THREE times, and my hands are bruised from the first one. I cursed the tires, my lbs and really wanted to cry! I'm now down to 15 minutes per tire and I'm okay with it. Find the right combination and you will probably be able to do it. The hardcases are known for being "ornery". My lbs can't put them on without a lever either so don't feel bad. Hopefully yours are also so bomb proof that you will have to change them rarely.

Yea... inquiring future tire buyers want to know too... did the tires of doom see dooms-day? Ooo, my bike is white, don't feel too punished by vanity. I've been drewling overs some white ones thru cyberspace myself:rolleyes:...

I'm shopping new tires and getting ready to hit the lbs 2nd trip to try and make a decision. I've read reviews, asked here, and also asked one of my guy bike pals (whose done many a tire in his day, plus has strongly manly hands) about the "hard to get on aspect".

Umm, ok... pardon the bluntness but his answer was partly this (on neg reviews of the hardcases, etc. a tire he has had, and thinks is a great tire)..."OK, M... FOCUS, those reviews may have been written by someone who didn't have the tire putting on exp etc. blab blab blab... besides, ANY brand new tires I have ever bought and put on have been a f****** nightmare to get on!... yadda yadda".

Sooo, I'd say "that" and based upon some of the members posting about them (who I perceive to be pretty knowledgeable about mechanical stuff from prior posts) umm, the tires new t-aint so easy regardless.

Maybe the mom and pop lbs knows more than you think about getting the beasts on??? Hope it worked out.
