Wow what an awesome day today was! I decided that I'm gonna slog through the cold and try to ride so I'm slowly piecing together a winter wardrobe. Today my Descente order came with my new Shelter Jacket, Wombat Gloves and toe warmers.

The Shelter Jacket is soooo hot! The cut and styling are super flattering, the material is amazing, and I totally adore the the MP3 player pocket and cable routing. All the guys in the office were oohing and awhing at it. One even had to try it on. I can already see an office full of Shelter Jackets happening, and lots of girlfriends getting them as gifts. I don't think TE has the new one up yet, and I can't speak to the old one, but this one rocks! Sure beats the whimpy old Whisper Jacket I had that did little to no good.

Of course the Wombats are a classic and I can't wait to lose them, I mean, try them. I am so good at losing gloves.

Even better is I came home to find that my Tour de Cure jersey had arrived! It's super cute and I love the cut despite it being men's. They didn't put the year on it which is cool, but in a way I wish they had. The guys at work were mocking it and I shut them up by saying "Go ahead, mock the jersey I earned on a ride I did in honor of my grandma who died of diabetes complications." That quieted them down a bit.

Oh so much fun! Cannot wait to try it all out! Funny how new toys can inspire you to ride. Now I just have to decide on tights.

New stuff is cool, winter stuff is even cooler  Enjoy it!

I did my first cold ride today - below freezing, studded tire in front, and after 1 hr commute - yep, time to switch to winter tights, winter shoes and thicker gloves...

Hey, lph, does that mean you will be switching back to the avatar 'with face mask'? :D

I recently got a new pair of cold weather tights I am itching to try out, just have to wait for colder mornings.

What color is that jacket?
I don't see any in hi-viz :(

Does it look like this (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/i/1325E,50,_Descente-Shelter-Cycling-Jacket-For-Women.html)?

Yesterday I had planned (but not very well) to ride my bike to my dentist appointment downtown. But I haven't yet taken my winter clothes down from the attic, and without my PI Lobster Gloves, my hands would have been frozen--it was a brisk 40F. So I drove--and got a parking ticket !!

So today's the day to unpack the winter things and get ready to ride! After an extremely lackluster October for very little riding, I've lined up great weekend rides for November, and have rededicated myself to riding for errands during the week. Oh and spinning classes, too. Next week I have to go back to the dentist to get a cavity filled (how I got it, I don't know since I eat very little sugar), so I'll take my bike and avoid another parking ticket. Plus, it's on Election Day, and there will be extra traffic and no parking because my dentist is right near City Hall and that's a big polling place.

Yeah for invigorating winter (such as it is down here)!

Tulip, bummer about the parking ticket.

I am doing more errands than ever on my bike, and I just LOVE it.
I'm lucky in that I live a half mile from town and from the P.O., and I live 1 1/2 miles from the supermarket, bank and drugstore. So most errands mean a 1-3 mile little bike ride. Plus the 1/4 mile steep hill at the end up to my house. :D On another thread I've been talking about converting my second bike into a grocery/errand bike. I just LOVE leaving the car at home. My husband does the same thing, doing most of his errands into town on his errand bike, his 10 year old Trek. :p

Smurf - That's a nice jacket. It's very similar to my Sugoi Firewall Jacket -- MP3 "routing" w/the pocket, etc.

Let us know how warm it is and what you do for layers underneath. You should get one of those "skull" print Buffs to wear w/it. http://www.rei.com/product/691367

Maybe you can pin the Wombats to your sleeves! Enjoy.
