So there I was, on vacation with my husband in our house in S. Georgia. Riding every day, having a blast. I get a phone call from my supervisor that I am on DVD. I had been "told" to do a video demo with my police dog for CSI: Miami, doing some kind of special on female officers. "You really need to do this?", in other words, I have no choice per my boss. I handle a bomb dog at the airport, cool job. I did this video interview/demo and pretty much thought I'd wind up on the cutting room floor. Well I have my 15 minutes of fame with my girl. Any CSI: MIAMI fans, I am on the season six dvd set.

Well that's wonderful!

No, I'm not a CSI fan. I do CSI (street drug lab supervisor) in real life so it's like a busman's holiday to watch the CSI programs. Plus, it always annoys me that they get a dozen test results in three seconds. Oh, if only that were true.

I will definitely make an exception for the episode that you are in. Please let us know when it's being aired.

Congrats on your moment of fame! I don't watch CSI...I seem to flop in front tv (if not in front of computer) for foodnetwork, travel channel and occasional British detective and cop shows.

Pardes what type of organization do you work for? I worked for a govn't agency, where we did have some staff dogs...:rolleyes: They were canine detectors, for arson and fire investigative work. Some of the dogs were former police dogs.

It was at a provincial fire marshal's office ...no I didn't handle the dogs, just the books and databases about arson, firefighting, fire protection engineering..nothin' for tv. Our agency did case work with police and forensic sciences.

Another world...actually the culture isn't totally unlike where I am now..strange..

As a former Lab Tech ("lab rat"), I've always been amazed that they collect the raw sample / extract the DNA/ replicate it / read the gel, AND arrest the guy in 24 hours. When I was doing PCR, it took a little longer than that! Unfortunately, the general public gets the notion that the lab tests can be run in just a couple of minutes. I think they should have a timer running on the bottom to show how long things actually take. About as much fun as watching bacteria grow on agar.

Shootingstar - I work for the state Medical Examiner's Office where we have postmortem examinations, a toxicology lab, DNA lab, and the seized drug lab.

bmccasland - You are so right about the length that's really required in testing. Unfortunately all jury members are watchers of CSI program and they look very annoyed when we explain how testing is done and how long it takes.

It's true, I was a sexual battery detective and DNA cases took FOREVER. I will say the one positive out of O.J.'s trial, everybody gave us swabs because noone believed that it worked. Three life felonies later, case closed. I have to say I have never watched CSI: MIAMI and don't know many cops that do. It sucks to watch work at home. I always liked the forensics stuff, almost went to Homicide, too much work. The pup is more fun.
