DH and I returned yesterday from a fall color tour of three of our lovely rail trails here in Michigan. The weather was spectacular and the fall colors were beautiful. We started on the west end of the Musketawa trail, from Ravina to Muskegon and back. This was a new trail for us. The 26 mile paved trail is well maintaned and a joy to ride. Next we rode the Heart to Montaque trail, always one of our favorites any time of the year. The ice cream at the Country Dairy, a working dairy farm right along side the trail just north of New Era, is the best I have ever had. They also offer a bottomless cup of milk including chocolate for $1.00. Our final trail was the Little Traverse Wheelway from Charlevoix to Petoskey with it's stunning views of Lake Michigan. The tunnel picture in my avatar is taken along this trail.
Some of my favorite things on this fall ride were:
The sound of the fallen leaves crunching under my tires.
Sitting in the hotel hot tub after a day of riding.
Watching a doe munching an apple off a tree for her breakfast .
My Terry bella knickers. Perfect for cool mornings.
Ibex wool sports bra. No more of that cold, wet feeling.
Smart Wool arm warmers. Very convenient for 40 degree mornings.
Keen bike sandals. Worn with wool socks this time of year= Comfy feet.
Ibex full zip wool jersy. Not too cold or too hot.
Orchard fresh honeycrisp apples.
