Taking a trip to Coeur D'Alene (spelling?) and wondering if there's a lap pool there? Did a google search, but didn't get much useful information. I figured there might be someone on this forum that might know...

Thanx in advance!

There are no real public pool type areas in Coeur d'Alene, but there are several gyms with pools. I am familiar with two:

Ironwood Athletic Club has a pool - on Ironwood between Highway 95 and Northwest Boulevard, just off of I-90. It's between downtown and the freeway. http://www.ironwoodathleticclub.com

They have a lap swimming pool but it seems relatively booked - people signing up for lanes in advance, lots of swim lessons and classes going on. Might be more free this time of year, though, before the winter/Ironman rush. You might give them a call and see what the fees are and how easy it would be for you to swim. I've never actually swam there, but have attended classes in the gym. It's a 4-lane 25-yard pool, I think.

Liberty Lake Athletic Club is where the local and Coeur d'Alene swim teams work out, but it's 15 or so miles west of Coeur d'Alene in Liberty Lake, just south of I-90. About as far south of the freeway as Ironwood, actually, so not far off the freeway, but it's not exactly right next door (15 minute drive). http://www.libertylakeathleticclub.com

There are lots of open swim and family swim times. There are 5 or 6 lanes (Uhh... I was just there yesterday but can't remember) and it's 25 yards (no deep end). At least one or two lanes are reserved for lap swim during almost all times except certain lessons, masters swim, and the Liberty Lake swim team. They have their pool schedule on their site. Again, you'd have to figure out what the fees are, I think there's some kind of guest fee. Right now it's not super crowded, again before the winter/Ironman rush time.

Coeur d'Alene is building up a new awesome facility that the swim team is supposed to move over to in 2009, I think, and free up more lanes for lap swimming at my pool. ;)

There's a YMCA in Spokane Valley that's even farther away, but has a more fancy/official looking pool. One or more of the Oz Fitness gyms might have a pool. I know there are city pools in Spokane. There may be other private gyms in Coeur d'Alene with pools.
