do you feel super sexy when you get on your bike. I have some extra "fluff" on my body, that most of the time I am really self concious about. I have some serious body issues, but for some reason that all goes away on my bike. I don't get it, I'm wearing skin tight clothing, and pretty short shorts (I usually wear guys Dickies shorts) but I feel powerful and comfortable and above all, sexy. Is this a normal phenomenon? It's crazy, but the best feeling ever!!!:D

My DH thinks I look sexy on my bike - he keeps taking pictures of me on the trail. All I know is that I feel confident and strong when riding and eventhough I still have quite a bit of weight to lose to reach my goal I feel great! My legs are shaping up real nice and it is a good feeling to feel the strength in them when I sprint. When we first started riding in August I could barely do 7 miles at 8.5 mph. This week alone I have ridden over 60 miles averaging 12.5 - 14 mph with some faster sprints, and that is not counting the weekend! MS150 here I come!!
DH has promised me a whole new cycling outfit just for the MS150 - I should be close to goal weight by then and I can’t wait to shop for that outfit!! I will be asking you all for ideas when I get closer to that shopping spree!

I love that song and I about fell over laughing while watching the video! It's a good one to download...Itunes here I come! I think I need to make a new playlist for riding.

do you feel super sexy when you get on your bike. D
Oh, what a great query. I think I know what you mean, even though I'm huffing and puffing and occasionally clumsy. Who knows how I'll feel when I get some strength built up.
Seriously, I feel so rejuvenated biking. I'm 57 and I don't worry about age or feel old, but...biking makes me feel like I remember feeling in my twenties and thirties. While I wouldn't have chosen the words "super sexy" I think I know what you mean.

Interesting. Admittedly I do feel abit sexier on the bike. when it is warmer weather, I do wear shorter cycling shorts... not just 2 inches above my knees.
In a high vi pearl izumi slim jacket that does look...good on me.yea,...as long as my cycling form while moving along on bike..:o
Now tonight, I asked my partner if I looked sexier on bike..it never occurred to him to see me that way while I'm on bike. He did say I dress better (meaning cycling clothing), therefore look better when I'm on bike... ok....whatever.
He doesn't want the clothing, any clothing..ok..to be convinced...
So pretty pointless for me to rely on external opinions on sexiness on bike.
Who cares. :D On a good cycling day, I do feel abit sexier. And no, his attitude has stopped me from ...enjoying the pleasure of cycling. :)
As an off-topic:
Yesterday..I just realized that there are MANY women who just have never worn anything remotely athletic/near athletic casual clothing except for running shoes. I was talking to an employee who works in my department and mentioned a local popular sporting goods store chain (Mountain Equipment Co-op). She had never heard of it ...even though she's born, raised and lived in Greater Vancouver area for 49 years of her life. She has 2 grown sons..where I thought by now, she would have heard remotely about this store via them. But, no. She is overweight by 30-40 lbs., which I suspect makes her choose to wear polyester slacks, floral tops, black/dark tops, etc. that seriously make her look like slight housewifey dumpy... We work in a construction site and most women in our organization have at some point worn jeans, casual cotton chino pants, etc. with a nice casual top. Not all the time, but sometimes...regardless of their shape /body weight.

I think EVERYONE, fat or thin, young or old.... is automatically sexier when they are on a bike.
After all, you are wrapping your body around a beautiful gleaming oiled moving machine powered by muscle!- what's not sexy about that??
mr elk says I look like a goddess...:D when he rides behind me....

It's not just cycling...any activity. Even trim folks look bad if they don't have muscle tone...and any regular exercise creates tone, and a better confidence and self perception...that is evident to everyone.
For the record: Silver's rhomboids 'dance' when she rides in the drops. It's crazy sexy (and hypnotizing) when drafting!

YES!
I feel very sexy on my bike. I feel strong and fast. I am one of those people for whom speed is an aphrodisiac :p.
I can be feeling kind of badly about myself (yeah, I get down on myself sometimes), and if I go out for a ride I suddenly feel strong and confident and in control.
TMI.
And my bike clothes are much nicer and much more put together than my clothes in real life. Generally more expensive too .
yup...feeling strong, confident and having fun while breathing and looking around...I'd say that makes us sexy...

I feel very sexy afterwards too! All that glistening sweat and adrenaline! BF must think so to cause he is always ready to drag me off to the bedroom! :D

DH sure thinks I'm sexy on the bike. It's the only time he calls me "hot". And he does not like it when I bike with other guys--but meeting them for lunch or dinner is okay?!?

Digging up this thread from weeks past...I don't feel sexy on the bike. I feel kind of goofy in my helmet (and, well, just in general :p). Anyway, today I was riding, and this guy who looked like he was on a bike because he lost his license made kissy noises at me. Ick. I still didn't feel sexy, just grossed out.

Yeah those are the kinda thugs I run into in downtown Indianapolis too. If I hear another 'hey baby where's the trail' I'm gonna lose my mind. In fact I generally want to look frumpy so I usually will throw on some cargo shorts over my spandex. Isn't that nutz that women have to cover up sometimes to feel safer.

One of the reasons why I didn't start wearing cycling jerseys and cycling shorts until 6 years ago..even though I've been cycling regularily for past 16 years...I wanted to look frumpy and incompetent as a cyclist.
I didn't want to draw attention to me as I was trying to make it up the hills. I figured who cared to look at a frumpy, outdated dressed cyclist.
Now, i don't give a poop. It's just simply more comfortable to wear cycling clothing, particularily on longer rides.
The whole irony to all this, is that before I started to wear cycling clothing, I was cycling more mileage annually.

Unfortunate male reactions aside, biking makes me feel sexier than anything else!!!!:D Out the window are all my body issues (good lord, they come out to play in the pool though!) I feel strong and fast, and I LOOOVE passing a guy on my bike. Oh yeah. Riding in downtown is especially nice because as a cyclist I feel uber powerful since the cars yield to me (when was the last time a guy did that for you in real life??) and I can actually get places faster than they can :) Also they are sitting at lights watching my a** ...
I have been wondering if this happens because intensive cycling boosts your testosterone levels? I know more fat means higher estrogen levels so maybe loosing fat boosts testosterone? Or because when you work major muscle groups together you also boost testosterone? I know these are both true in men but don't know about women...
Anyway. Maybe there is a doctor out there that can explain this! Maybe testosterone isn't what makes biker women more aggressive, strong, and hot-feeling. I dunno, just a theory....

Cycling makes me feel fit, but I wouldn't say it makes me feel sexy...
It mostly makes me feel sweaty and tired!

I have to say I also feel pretty good about myself most of the time on my bike. Sexy is not really the word for it, though. :D
Although, DH did say once that he thought a particular jersey of mine was sexy - it is a black sleeveless number with white piping and a wind-grabbing hood. It fits nicely but it is impractical. But I always tend to wear it when I ride with him. He says it makes me look like one of those intimidating sporty chicks. It cracks me up because I am so not that.

I don't feel sexy either, but the BF sure likes me in my cycling clothes! I feel strong and powerful, but not sexy-especially in my helmet!

I like the feeling of getting on my bike, looking like I belong on it (because of the clothes) and knowing I belong on it because I've gotten pretty decent at riding it ... and riding away. I am free on my bike. I am independent. And I'm usually wearing a cute PINK jersey!!! :D
So, in some ways, yes I feel sexy.
I also like the fact that just a week ago someone saw me in my cycling clothes for the first time and asked if I had lost weight.
Ummm, no, I hadn't. Spandex does work wonders!

Jiffer you said it all just perfectly! I agree totally.
BTW, you ladies that don't feel good looking in your helmet then maybe you just need another helmet. I just bought a beautiful Rudy Project one that is fabulous and much lower profile than my old Trek. Bonus, its very very pink.
